Mole National Park - Located just two hours from Tamale, guests will be picked up from their hotel or directly from Tamale Airport for a picturesque drive through the savannah plains to Mole National Park. Here, they will enjoy an overnight stay at the Mole Motel. In the late afternoon, an exhilarating jeep safari awaits, providing excellent opportunities to see elephants and other wildlife in their natural surroundings.

Mole National Park - The day begins with an early morning walking safari, guided by an experienced game ranger, offering another intimate wildlife experience. After the safari, guests will return for breakfast and then visit the ancient Larabanga Mosque and the Mognori ecovillage for a canoe safari and a glimpse into village life, perfect for bird watching and learning about shea butter processing.

Wechiau Community Hippo Sanctuary - The Hippo Sanctuary is one of Ghana’s premier locations for observing hippos up close in their natural environment, making it an ideal additional adventure when visiting Mole National Park.

The journey to Wechiau is an adventure itself, taking approximately four hours through the scenic savannah plains, passing through several rural villages and local communities. Along the way, travelers will gain a deeper appreciation for the landscape, culture, and daily life in northern Ghana.

The dry season is the optimal time to visit, as lower water levels enhance hippo sightings.

Departing from Mole early ensures ample time at the sanctuary. Upon arrival, guests will join local community guides for a canoe safari along the Black Volta River, where they can safely observe these magnificent “water giants” in their natural habitat.

Tamale

Tamale - After a well-deserved rest, guests will enjoy a leisurely breakfast before checking out and saying goodbye to the elephants and the wild beauty of Mole National Park. The journey back to Tamale will be timed to catch a late afternoon flight to Accra.
