- Barbary macaque feeding station - Visitors will spend time with the famous monkeys at Upper Apes Den, located at the same height as the cable car. The Barbary Macaque Apes are the only ones found in Europe, residing in the upper rock nature reserve of Gibraltar. Currently, there are over 200 apes in six packs roaming the upper rock. Legend has it that in 1942, the ape population dwindled to just seven, prompting British Prime Minister Sir Winston Churchill to order their immediate replenishment, as long as Barbary Macaques remain on the Rock of Gibraltar, it will stay under British rule.
- The Great Siege Tunnels - The Great Siege Tunnels are a must-see, offering insights into Gibraltar’s history under siege. These tunnels were hand-carved out of the rock during the Great Siege from 1779 to 1783 to defend Gibraltar against Spanish and French forces attempting to reclaim it from the British.
- The Moorish Castle Complex (The Tower of Homage and The Gate House) - The Moorish Castle, a medieval fortification in Gibraltar, consists of several buildings and stands proudly on the eastern elevation of the Rock. It symbolizes the long and colorful history of Gibraltar, originally built in 1160 CE and later ransacked by the Spanish between 1309 and 1333. The ‘Tower of Homage’ was rebuilt in the 14th century by Abu-l-Hasan, and today, visitors can explore the recently restored castle, marvel at the 14th-century walls, and admire the achievements of Gibraltar’s first city builders, the Moors. Cannon dents are still visible on the castle walls.
