Arrival in Moshi, transfer to hotel for briefing and overnight stay.

Start at Lemosho Gate (7,824 ft) and hike through the lush rainforest to Mti Mkubwa camp (9,251 ft). 3-4 hrs

Trek from Mti Mkubwa camp to Shira 1 camp (11,499ft) as we gradually ascend above the forest line. 5-6 hrs

Day 1
Arrival in Moshi, transfer to hotel for briefing and overnight stay.
Day 2
Start at Lemosho Gate (7,824 ft) and hike through the lush rainforest to Mti Mkubwa camp (9,251 ft). 3-4 hrs
Day 3
Trek from Mti Mkubwa camp to Shira 1 camp (11,499ft) as we gradually ascend above the forest line. 5-6 hrs
Day 4
Continue the ascent from Shira 1 camp to Shira 2 camp (12,598ft), crossing the Shira Plateau. Experience different climates and vegetation zones as we reach higher altitudes. 4-5 hrs.
Day 5
Trek from Shira 2 camp to Barranco camp (12,959ft) via the Lava Tower (15,091ft). This day is crucial for acclimatization as we hike to a high altitude and then descend to sleep at a lower elevation. 6-7 hrs.
Day 6
Ascend from Barranco camp to Karanga camp ( 13,106ft) through the famous Barranco Wall. 4-5 hrs
Day 7
Trek from Karanga camp to Barafu camp (15,223ft), our last camp before the summit. 4-5 hrs
Day 8
Summit day! Depart from Barafu camp in the early hours of the morning to reach the Uhuru Peak (19,340ft), descend to Mweka camp. 14-16 hrs

Descend from Mweka camp to Mweka Gate, transfer back to hotel/overnight stay

Best tour group on Kili! - As a local Tanzanian and Black Woman owned tour group, it felt good participating on a tour that was built on ethical values of touring Kilimanjaro. The team was truly amazing and hospitable in every sense. The medical checks helped me safely reach the peak. The meals kept me nourished, so much so that I barely touched the snacks I brought with me. I highly recommend this tour for anyone with dreams of Kilimanjaro!

So worth it - This was an amazing experience. The landscapes were gorgeous, the journey was hard but fulfilling, everything about this trip was epic.
There is no way this trip could be as great as it was without the hard work of the Soraka team . They paid attention to every little detail and were willing to go the extra mile for our safety and comfort.

Unforgettable Kilimanjaro Experience with the Soraka Tours Family - From start to finish, Soraka Tours exceeded every expectation. Their team was not only knowledgeable but incredibly supportive throughout the entire Kilimanjaro trek. From the moment we began our journey, it was evident that this wasn’t just a company—it was a family.
The guides demonstrated exceptional skill in assessing each hiker's needs, especially when it came to breathing challenges, climbing support, and physical technique. They constantly monitored our well-being, offering hands-on help whenever it was needed.
The cooks and wait staff (Honey and Joseph) went above and beyond to accommodate food preferences, ensuring we had the nourishment necessary to maintain our strength. The bathroom porters were attentive and took care of any malfunctions promptly and respectfully. Tent porters graciously helped with packing, dusting shoes, and assisting those of us too exhausted to manage on our own (thank you, Lamecki).
Summit day was especially humbling. My personal porter, David, was truly a blessing—walking by my side, encouraging me with every step, wiping my nose, and even capturing moments in photos when I wasn’t physically capable. Purchasing a personal porter was a bonus. By the third day, he had been watching me closely and stayed near my side without needing to be asked.
During the first three days of hiking, I had to call his name often for my electrolytes and other items in my daypack (I still carried my water). On summit day, David was more than excellent. Thanks to him and the rest of the team, I felt safe, cared for, and inspired to keep going.
Another guide, Fred Freedom, stayed behind me—anticipating my needs, holding my hand, smiling, and giving me a helping hand and gentle nudge up the mountain.
I left the mountain filled with gratitude and a strong desire to tip everyone who made my health, safety, and overall experience a priority.
The only downside to my entire experience was descending through the rainforest in the dark, which posed a significant fall risk. Unfortunately, I stubbed my toe multiple times on rocks due to limited visibility, resulting in a bruised toe and swollen foot (I was unable to wear a shoe upon descent and during travel home). Despite this, I consider myself fortunate that no major injuries occurred.
If I were to do this climb again, without hesitation, it would be with Soraka Tours.

best trip ever! - I have never been so cared for on a trip before. Sophia, Baraka, and the entire Soraka team executed a phenomenal experience for me. Planning a trip like this is daunting, but Sophia had excellent communication and made sure we had what we needed. The porters went above and beyond during the trip from hauling our stuff to cooking our food to even cleaning our dusty shoes! I appreciate that this is a Tanzanian-owned company (as opposed to some of the other larger tour companies) and how transparent Soraka is with pay. I highly recommend Soraka for anyone wanting to summit Kilimanjaro!

More than a tour company! - Soraka Tours
More than a tour company!
The attention to detail made this company stand apart from the rest. There is so much I could say about my personal experience and that observed of others in my group. Here are just a few highlights:
1. Sterling tour guides, between them I believe they had over 250 summits in total! They answered every question and were an absolute pleasure to be in the company of daily for hours at a time!
2. Daily medical checks, evening briefing explained the next day’s route and how to dress, what to expect.
3. I now know that a ‘mummy’ sleeping bag is not suitable for me. Four days into the hike, the tour company sent for a ‘side-sleeping’ sleeping bag for me (I had not asked for it). They wanted to ensure I gain quality sleep during my hike. They even provided nightly hot water bottles!
4. Each evening, after the porters had set up camp, several would come back on the trial, to offer to carry our bags for the last stretch after a long day!
5. Meals were always served with a smile! No matter how cold it maybe! All dietary requirements were met and fresh food were served every night. This was made possible as they restocked half way through the week. Most of the snacks I packed came back untouched, as I was fed so well!
6. Each evening, when sore and aching, we were offered help to removed boots and dust off gators… I know this seems excessive, but don’t underestimate putting your head down in high altitude!
7. There were 10 Sistas hiking, we had a team of over 56 porters to make this trip smooth and comfortable. Here you can see then in action.

Soraka Tours is the Best Kilimanjaro Tour Operator - Team Soraka is the pinnacle! For me, Soraka Tours was unmatched in providing a safe and comprehensive experience in summitting Mount Kilimanjaro - I highly recommended Soraka! From their leadership team seamlessly managing all of the moving parts for our group of climbers, to the guides ensuring our safety on the trail, to their medical team evaluating and accommodating any health needs, to the chefs providing tasty and nutritious meals and tea times, to the camp manager having our accommodations ready prior to our arrivals, to the incomparable porter team who moved all of our gear from camp to camp - every team member was dedicated in making sure that my experience was even more than I anticipated, but exactly what I needed so that I could focus on the task at hand: putting one foot in front of the other. From the big picture goal of summitting safely, up and back down the mountain, through changing terrain, to the smallest detail of dusting off my gaiters after long hiking days, to having a Soraja team member double back and meet me on the trail to help with my day pack - this experience provided by the A-MAZ-ING Team Soraka has given me a lifetime of memories that I'll treasure forever. Soraka thought of everything I might need on the mountain, planned for any unexpected contingencies, anticipated how even small added details make all the difference for me as a solo climber that also became solidified as part of a lovely group of determined Sister climbers with a shared goal, along with the much larger Team Soraka that was just as invested in all of our success in reaching the summit. Best Kilimanjaro tour company ever!

Amazing experience! Amazing Co.! Soraka Tours is a humble company that outperforms all the others. Soraka is the BEST! - Amazing! Team Soraka is the reason I was able to reach the summit of Mt Kilimanjaro. I highly recommend Soroka Tours! This 8 day summit is well planned, organized and executed. The entire Soraka team has years (decades for many team members) of experience on the mountain and what’s needed for a safe and successful summit.
Your safety and well being are the top priorities of Soraka Tours. They ensure you have all you need for a successful summit, for example, there are daily medical checks, meals prepared by professional chefs that understand the nutritional needs of an 8 day summit and experts in campground management to ensure the campsites are safe, clean and efficiently set up to ensure you can rest and relax after each daily hike.
The summit/trail guides are experts in climbing the mountain, they know the terrain, the best way to acclimate and adjust to the altitude and the mindset needed to reach the summit. These guides are the best on the mountain!
The Soraka team consist of individuals who understand the importance of teamwork. They are individual superstars working together for a common goal, a safe and successful summit for each client. HIGHLY RECOMMEND SORAKA TOURS! - I cannot say enough about the level of support, professionalism and leadership of Soraka Tours! From the accommodations, to the delicious daily meals (catering to all- vegetarian, pescatarian, etc), to the support and encouragement of each and every guide, porter and staff—it was ALL top notch. The Best Company to go with for Kilimanjaro - The Soraka team was incredible! We were so appreciative of the support and positive energy throughout the trip. We felt really taken care of, and Baraka and Baltazar were so knowledgeable and taught us so much about the mountain. Reaching the summit for sunrise was a dream come true! We recommend them all of the time to anyone interested in Kilimanjaro. Looking at the other groups around us at camp we could tell that Soraka tours was going above and beyond what other groups were experiencing and we were so grateful.

Amazing trip with an amazing crew!!! - I just cannot recommend Soraka Tours enough! It was really important to us that the company we worked with was as local as possible. One of the owners of Soraka is from Tanzania and has been taking people up Kilimanjaro for almost 30 years (27 I think?) That expertise was clear! Our guides were FANTASTIC, particularly Nemis and Fredrick, as was everyone else in our crew. They took such great care of us that it was hard to say goodbye. We successfully made it to the top and then had 3 amazing safari days. The accommodations on the safari nights were amazing, unique and beautiful. Do yourself a big favor and use Soraka Tours!!!
