The Best Company to go with for Kilimanjaro - The Soraka team was incredible! We were so appreciative of the support and positive energy throughout the trip. We felt really taken care of, and Baraka and Baltazar were so knowledgeable and taught us so much about the mountain. Reaching the summit for sunrise was a dream come true! We recommend them all of the time to anyone interested in Kilimanjaro. Looking at the other groups around us at camp we could tell that Soraka tours was going above and beyond what other groups were experiencing and we were so grateful.

Amazing trip with an amazing crew!!! - I just cannot recommend Soraka Tours enough! It was really important to us that the company we worked with was as local as possible. One of the owners of Soraka is from Tanzania and has been taking people up Kilimanjaro for almost 30 years (27 I think?) That expertise was clear! Our guides were FANTASTIC, particularly Nemis and Fredrick, as was everyone else in our crew. They took such great care of us that it was hard to say goodbye. We successfully made it to the top and then had 3 amazing safari days. The accommodations on the safari nights were amazing, unique and beautiful. Do yourself a big favor and use Soraka Tours!!!

Climbing Kili on a twisted ankle… - It’s not everyday you take on the challenge of climbing Mt Kilimanjaro. Well I couldn’t ask for a better company OR group gentleman to climb with. From the pre trip guidance to support during my climb including daily food, was phenomenal. I fell and twisted my ankle on the 2nd day…I brought my mental attitude and they provided the rest…I successfully summited. Nemis, Fredrick, Cristiano, Frank, Abil, Rizvi, Bukari (Stomach Engineer {Chef}), Sophia, Baraka and the 14 other gentle giants…thank you for making this once in a lifetime experience and dream come through!! It’s not an easy trek, it’s certainly 20/80% mental/physical the first 2 days and 80/20 for the next 4 days…and certainly doable!!

BEST TRIP EVER - I just returned from a trip of a lifetime. I climbed and summited Mount Kilimanjaro. I can’t say enough about this bucket list ultimate adventure. It would not have been possible without Soraka Tours. They surpassed ALL of my expectations. The entire crew headed by Sophia and Baraka is amazing! My hiking companions along with the Soraka team were my family for seven unforgettable days. Even the things that were “not in the brochure” were experiences within the EXPERIENCE that are hard to top. Like a well-oiled machine, everyone on the Soraka team had a specific role. All I had to do was following some simple instructions to stay safe and succeed. Soraka Tours – you gave me everything I wanted and more. Words cannot describe the ultimate gift you gave me. I am forever grateful.

Bucket List Item - To Climb and Summit Mt. Kilimanjaro - CHECK! - My husband has always wanted to climb and summit Mt. Kilimanjaro. This was never on my bucket list but Oh So Glad we accomplished it! Our trip began with six strangers, and it grew into a trip of a lifetime with six cherished lifelong friends. Soraka Tours not only provided us with a chef and assistant (who brought us coffee or tea each morning in our tent), tea breaks along the way on most days, porters to carry our gear, strong and knowledgeable guides who'd sing to us and dance with us and who kept our spirits up each day, but when we left, we had formed a bond that will not be broken among six former strangers who are now family. Beautiful scenery, strong tents, warm sleeping bags (with hot water bottles to warm our feet), clean water, dining tent, porta potties ... the list could go on. As we walked around other camps, we were amazed how great and caring our tour group was as opposed to other tour groups. Baraka (who has been climbing the mountain for 35+ years) and Sophia (who fell in love with the mountain 5+ years ago) blend together beautifully with a Tanzania connection and a US connection. Before our climb, we went on the Materuni waterfall hike with coffee tour and we ate lunch with the Chagga tribe. After our climb, we went on a 2-day Safari, then participated in a 5K Fun Run. All offered by Soraka Tours. We looked at three tour groups and narrowed it down to Soraka Tours after speaking with Sophia. Loved our trip and miss hanging out with our new "family."

The Best Team in the World - I spent a week with the best team on the planet! I hiked Kilimanjaro via the Lemosho Route with a team from Soraka Tours. After seeing hundreds of other climbers I honestly can’t imagine going with a different company. I had 9 team members. They were the sweetest, most inspiring people. I always felt so safe and taken care of. The porters are all inspiring and my guide, Dustin, is incredibly attentive to every detail and making sure I felt strong and healthy the entire time! The team took care of everything! Coordinating with Sophia and Buraka was seamless. Food and accommodation on the mountain were STELLAR and delicious! Could not recommend Soraka more! Asante sana rafikis!!

One Team, One Dream! - Our crew felt like family from the beginning. They treated us with the utmost respect and care. There was not a moment where we did not feel in the best hands to ensure our safety, health and joy in conquering Mt. Kilimanjaro. While each member of our 16-man crew was essential and appreciated, we would be remiss if we did not highlight some individuals. Paskali, a.k.a Woriya – our chef – kept us well-nourished and blew every mountain meal we have had out of the water. Would request him for any future climb or any event, if we could! Our guides, Baltazar and Nemes, were paramount in our success. From setting an exceptional pace (polepole 😉) to hand feeding us during our early summit we could not have done it without them. They were patient, encouraging, and kind. Baltazar motivated us perfectly in the most challenging moments. His energy and “everything is temporary” mentality were contagious. Enock, one of the many wonderful porters we had, joined us for the summit. He showed us the same care, patience, and support throughout a long summit climb. We could not have done it without him. We felt in the best hands from start to finish. This includes co-founders Sophia and Baraka. I worked with Sophia for a year – she was attentive, patient, and diligently answered my million questions! Baraka took care of us in country and ensured we were in good hands both at the beginning and end of our journey. It was smooth, start to finish! We could not have asked for a better crew to be with us as we achieved our goal of 10 years. ASANTE SANA! Hope to see you again!

Non-Stop to the Top! - From start to finish, my trip with Soraka was perfect! Sophia provided so much information and assistance up front that all I had to do was show-up ready for a great adventure! The Tanzania team was equally as incredible - Baltazar, Baraka, Simon, and Gerald were the most patient, knowledgeable, and fun guides. The whole team, including the incredible team of porters and chefs, made sure that everyone on our trip was having a fantastic time; despite the title of my review, they made sure everyone was comfortable regardless of pace, experience, or medical needs. I didn't know it would be possible to feel spoiled on a mountain, but the Soraka team's ability to anticipate our group's needs (and even our wants!) was nearly clairvoyant and a testament to their knowledge of and experience with the mountain! We were treated like Fabergé eggs all the way to the top! After an incredible night sleeping in Kilimanjaro's crater, our group departed on an incredible safari. Soraka chose the most amazing parks, which offered a great variety of animals to see. Our guide, Dennis, was so knowledgeable and - again - patient with our photography-loving group! As a side note, he and Sophia coordinated returning my phone to me after I left it in the safari vehicle - with just minutes to spare before my flight home! I could not have climbed Kilimanjaro or had such an amazing visit to Tanzania without the Soraka team - and I wouldn't want to do it with anyone else!
