An amazing day - but read before! - This is the only review you need! So.. to begin, there wasn’t any reviews for this trip before myself and my partner booked and we were skeptical about the legitimacy/ goodness of this trip! BUT! It was amazing! Firstly the tour guide, called Mustag (maybe spelt wrong!!!) was an exceptional tour guide. So very informative, kind, and can speak Arabic, English and German! So we (Irish) felt safe and comfortable with the tour guide knowing english! To begin the trip we were picked up at 1am in outside the security of our hotel, in a mini bus that can seat 8-10 passengers. There was 8 of us who bought the trip and 3 drivers who shared the load of the 6/7 hours drive there AND 6/7 hours back! The bus : POSITIVE - it was comfortable enough. Water/soft drinks was offered in a cooler (however wasn’t cold) and a little snack plate of pastries was handed out! There was also 3 rest breaks which was nice. NEGATIVE - The aircon wasn’t the best, and when you get the Cairo and leave the bus, and get back in and repeating, the bus doesn’t stay running and therefore when you get back into the bus, it’s BOILING and you’re sweating all day basically. So be prepared to swear from 1am-8pm the next day! The 3 rest breaks were good, however, the second one, the drivers had ordered a feast and took about 30/35 minutes to eat it. But, it was okay! ALSO! The toilets in the rest break places have a $1 charge!!!!!! Remember to bring change with you! Trip: POSITIVE- We arrived to Cairo about 8am and immediately left the bus to go into the museum. The museum had toilets and again $1 charge but was a good place to freshen up. The tour guide (Mustag) had a lot of knowledge and no faults! Then it was the boat on the Nile. We didn’t participate in this as w we’re told it was $5/$10 when we got there but was told it’s $15 - you can book the boat in advance also. It is a quick 30 minutes up and down and again return to the bus. If you don’t want to do the Nile boat, you can stay in the bus but be prepared to be sweat! Then after the Nile, we made our way to an Egyptian tea house! This was very good and the hosts were so so sooo!! Lovely!! Offered tea/ coffee and special Egyptian tea. There was oils and perfumes to smell also and they come round and show you ect but are not forced to bug anything! We loved this! Then it was time for the pyramids - you may be thinking when is lunch? The guide asked us if we’re hungry for lunch then, or if we wanted the pyramids - but it was beginning to heat up a lot and after lunch the sun would have been peak, so we chose pyramids first but you are ASKED! The pyramids was the most spectacular experience I have ever seen. It is WELL worth the horrors of the 12/14 hour bus return! The guide also said we could pay extra for a camel ride ect but again we didn’t participate in this but it was also $15! You see the pyramids, and the guide takes amazing pictures for you :) you are there for about an hour and then we headed down to the sphinx and it’s a quick picture (about 20 mins) and then we headed off to lunch. Lunch was decent, it’s a buffet which some good selection, however the next day and a few days after both of us were sick.. not sure if it was the buffer or just the general bad tummy when you go to an all inclsive resort as I have heard! After lunch we were taken to some places to get souvenirs (we asked for this so make sure you do too!) we didn’t like the first place and asked to go somewhere else and the guide and drivers were lovely and took us to a jewelry shop that welded hyrogliphics right infront of you onto jewelry and we did get this!! €60 for 2! But we’ll worth it. Then it was time to say good bye to the guide and head back home (go to negatives) NEGAITVE- firstly we arrived and didn’t have time to eat. Could have brought something with you around the museum maybe but be prepared to be woken and straight away taken off the bus. No faults with anything else during the trip!! Except the BUS HOME! The bus home began about 3pm and it was 43 degrees outside. The bus had been opened and closed so much it was absolutely horrific and roasting. The AC was on full blast but didn’t seem to do much. The bus home was sweaty and very uncomfortable. We only stopped once I think, but it’s comfortable enough to sleep… if your knackered! Overall and AMAZING experience, I wouldn’t do it again, and if you have the money if very much say pay the extra for the flight. But the day in Cairo was one of the best of my life.
