Pyramids of Giza - Begin the day with an early morning transfer in a private deluxe vehicle to Cairo (450 km / approximately 5 hours), with a rest stop along the way. Upon arrival, embark on a full-day guided tour of the Great Pyramid, the only remaining wonder of the original Seven Wonders of the World. This site features the three largest and best-preserved pyramids in Egypt, including the renowned Pyramid of Cheops, constructed with 2.3 million stone blocks, each weighing between 2.5 and 15 tons, as a tomb for Pharaoh Cheops. The second-largest pyramid was built for Cheops’s son, King Chephren (also known as Khafra), and is guarded by the iconic Sphinx, which features a human head and lion’s body, symbolizing King Chephren as a protector of the sacred site. The third-largest pyramid was constructed for Pharaoh Mycerinus (also known as Menkaure).
The Museum of Egyptian Antiquities - Visit the Egyptian Museum located in downtown Cairo, which houses over 120,000 artifacts from ancient Egypt and various prehistoric eras. Among the most notable exhibits are the treasures of King Tutankhamun, discovered by archaeologist Howard Carter in the Valley of the Kings at Luxor’s west bank, including the exquisite golden sarcophagus (weighing 110 kg) and solid gold mask.
Day 02: Cairo Sightseeing / Sleeper Train to Luxor
Saqqara (Sakkara) Pyramids - After breakfast at the hotel, at 8:30 AM, embark on a guided tour of Saqqara, renowned for the Step Pyramid, the oldest of Egypt’s 100 pyramids. This pyramid was built for King Djoser of the 3rd dynasty by the architect Imhotep, who designed it to be both grand and revolutionary.
Cairo Citadel - Visit the Citadel of Saladin, constructed in 1176 to protect Egypt from invaders, offering a strategic vantage point over the city. Explore the Mohamed Ali Alabaster Mosque, one of Egypt’s most famous mosques, known for its stunning architectural design, numerous domes, and tall minarets, inspired by the Blue Mosque in Istanbul.
Hanging Church (El Muallaqa, Sitt Mariam, St Mary) - Within this area, discover the Church of St. Sergius, where the Holy Family is believed to have stayed, and the Hanging Church, which served as the seat of the Coptic patriarchate for centuries. Also, visit the Ben Ezra Synagogue, where the “Geniza Documents” were found, providing invaluable insights into the historical life of Jews in Egypt.
Day 03: Luxor Sightseeing
Temple of Karnak - Enjoy breakfast on board before arriving in Luxor, where a representative will greet you. Spend the morning on a guided tour of the Karnak and Luxor temples. The Temple of Karnak is a magnificent site featuring a collection of temples built by various great Pharaohs, including the impressive avenue of ram-headed sphinxes.
Luxor Temple - Explore the Luxor Temple, once the center of many ancient festivals and considered one of the most beautiful and grand temples of Thebes. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before transferring to your hotel in Luxor for an overnight stay. (B/L)
Day 04: Luxor Sightseeing / Hurghada
Valley of the Kings - After breakfast, embark on a guided tour of the Necropolis of Thebes on the west bank, home to the Valley of the Kings, known as the “Place of Truth.” This site contains the burial tombs of New Kingdom Pharaohs, carved into the rock to protect the mummies from grave robbers. The tombs are adorned with well-preserved paintings and funeral scenes, with the most famous being that of Tutankhamun, discovered by Howard Carter in 1922.
Valley of the Queens - Visit the Valley of the Queens, also known as Wadi el-Melikat, where the wives of Pharaohs were interred. This site features over 90 known tombs, many of which are ornately decorated. Notable is the tomb of Queen Nefertari (QV66), the favored wife of Ramses II, renowned for its vibrant reliefs.
Temple of Hatshepsut at Deir el Bahari - Explore the temple of Queen Hatshepsut at Deir el Bahari, the only female Pharaoh to rule Egypt, who declared herself divine and is depicted in masculine form with a pharaoh’s kilt and artificial beard.
Colossi of Memnon - Conclude the tour with a visit to the 18-meter-high twin statues known as the Colossi of Memnon, remnants of the funerary temple of Amenophis III, before returning to the east bank.
