Visit the Great Pyramids - Cheops, Chephren & Mykerinos. The Giza Pyramid Complex, also known as the Giza Necropolis, is located on the Giza Plateau in Greater Cairo, Egypt. It includes the Great Pyramid of Giza, the Pyramid of Khafre, and the Pyramid of Menkaure, along with their associated pyramid complexes and the Great Sphinx of Giza. These were constructed during the Fourth Dynasty of the Old Kingdom of Ancient Egypt. The site also features several cemeteries and the remnants of a workers’ village.

The site is situated at the edge of the Western Desert, approximately 9 kilometers (5.6 miles) west of the Nile River in Giza, and about 13 kilometers (8 miles) southwest of Cairo’s city center.

Great Pyramid of Cheops (Khufu) - Khufu’s pyramid complex includes a valley temple, now buried beneath the village of Nazlet el-Samman. Diabase paving and nummulitic limestone walls have been discovered, but the site remains unexcavated. The valley temple was linked to a causeway, which was mostly destroyed during the village’s construction.
Khafre’s Pyramid - Khafre’s pyramid complex comprises a valley temple, the Sphinx temple, a causeway, a mortuary temple, and the king’s pyramid. The valley temple revealed several statues of Khafre, some found in a well in the temple’s floor by Mariette in 1860, and others during later excavations by Sieglin (1909–10), Junker, and Reisner.
Menkaure Pyramid - Menkaure’s pyramid complex includes a valley temple, a causeway, a mortuary temple, and the king’s pyramid. The valley temple once housed several statues of Menkaure. During the 5th Dynasty, a smaller ante-temple was added to the valley temple. The mortuary temple also contained several statues of Menkaure.
Great Sphinx - Visit the Sphinx located near the Valley Temple. The Sphinx is the oldest and largest in Egypt, featuring a lion’s body and a human head, symbolizing power and intellect. The Sphinx’s face is a likeness of Khafre, who built the Middle Pyramid of Giza.

Statue of Ramses II - The Statue of Ramesses II is a 3,200-year-old depiction of Ramesses II standing. Discovered in 1820 by Giovanni Battista Caviglia at the Great Temple of Ptah near Memphis, Egypt, it is made of limestone and weighs 83 tons. This statue was erected to commemorate the victory over the Hittites in the Battle of Kadesh in 1274 B.C.
Pyramid of Unas - The Pyramid of Unas (Egyptian: Nfr swt Wnjs “Beautiful are the places of Unas”) is a smooth-sided pyramid built in the 24th century BC for Pharaoh Unas, the ninth and final king of the Fifth Dynasty. It is the smallest Old Kingdom pyramid but is significant for the discovery of Pyramid Texts, spells for the king’s afterlife inscribed into the walls of its subterranean chambers. First inscribed in Unas’s pyramid, the tradition of funerary texts continued in the pyramids of subsequent rulers, through to the end of the Old Kingdom, and into the Middle Kingdom with the Coffin Texts that form the basis of the Book of the Dead.
