- Great Sphinx - The Sphinx is a statue of a mythical creature with the body of a lion and the head of a human, carved from limestone. It serves as a guardian of the Plateau and is the oldest known large sculpture, measuring approximately 73.5 meters in length, including 15 meters for its front feet, and 19.5 meters in width. Its height from the ground to the top of the head is about 20 meters. It is believed that the ancient Egyptians constructed it during the reign of King Chefren (Khafre) (2558 BC - 2532 BC), the builder of the middle Pyramid in Giza.
