- Pyramids of Giza - Our team guide and driver will pick you up from your hotel to visit the Pyramids of Giza and the Great Sphinx, which are among the most renowned tourist attractions globally, even during Roman times. These magnificent structures served as the final resting places for kings of the 4th Dynasty (c.2613–2494 BC). The Great Pyramid of Giza was constructed for King Khufu (c.2589–2566 BC), while the other two were built for Khafre and Menkaure, his son and grandson. Khufu’s pyramid is the oldest and largest of the three, and no building surpassed its height for another 3,800 years!
- Great Sphinx - The Great Sphinx of Giza, often called the Sphinx of Giza, Great Sphinx, or simply the Sphinx, is a limestone statue depicting a reclining sphinx, a mythical creature with a human head and a lion’s body.
- Saqqara (Sakkara) Pyramids - These monuments are rightly celebrated as they mark a significant historical shift in ancient Egyptian funerary monuments, transforming stone architecture and royal burials. Besides its beauty and monumental scale, it is the first pyramid ever built by the ancient Egyptians and the oldest known ancient Egyptian stone structure. The Step Pyramid’s age is truly remarkable, constructed in the early Third Dynasty during King Netjerykhet’s reign (c.2667–2648 BC), who is now better known as Djoser.
- The Sphinx of Memphis - Located near the modern village of Mit Rahina, close to Cairo, Memphis and its necropolis were added to UNESCO’s World Heritage List in 1979. Allegedly founded by Egypt’s legendary first king, Menes, in 3100 BC, the ancient city of Memphis was the capital during the Early Dynastic Period (c.3100–2686 BC) and Old Kingdom (c.2686–2181 BC), remaining one of the most significant cities throughout over three thousand years of ancient Egyptian history. It was a hub for the worship of the god Ptah, whose temple was among the most important in ancient Egypt. The temple’s ancient name, Hikuptah, “The Temple of the ka (‘soul’) of Ptah,” is the origin of the word “Egypt,” derived from the Greek Aigyptos.
