- Gizeh Plateau - Begin with a convenient pickup from your hotel in either Cairo or Giza by an Emo Tours guide, who will transfer you to the Giza Pyramids to commence your half-day tour. Visit the Giza Pyramids, including the Great Pyramids - Cheops, Chephren, and Mykerinos. The Great Pyramid of Giza, also known as the Pyramid of Khufu or the Pyramid of Cheops, is the oldest and largest of the three pyramids in the Giza pyramid complex, located near present-day Giza in Greater Cairo, Egypt. It is the oldest of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.
- Great Pyramid of Cheops (Khufu) - Khufu’s pyramid complex includes a valley temple, currently buried beneath the village of Nazlet el-Samman. Although diabase paving and nummulitic limestone walls have been discovered, the site remains unexcavated.
- Khafre’s Pyramid - Khafre’s pyramid complex features a valley temple, the Sphinx temple, a causeway, a mortuary temple, and the king’s pyramid. The valley temple revealed several statues of Khafre, with many found in a well in the temple’s floor by Mariette in 1860.
- Menkaure Pyramid - Menkaure, known as Mykerinos to the ancient Greeks (circa 2532–2503 BC), constructed the third of the three large Giza Pyramids. He was likely the son of Khafre (Khefren) and the grandson of Khufu (Cheops). With a base area less than a quarter of the other pyramids and an original height of 65 meters, Menkaure’s pyramid is the smallest of the three. This size reduction is due to several factors, including limited space on the Giza Plateau. Menkaure used granite for the outer casing, unlike his predecessors who used limestone. The granite was quarried in Aswan, over 800 km away, and is much harder than limestone. However, only the bottom quarter of the casing stones are granite, with the rest being limestone.
- Great Sphinx - The Great Sphinx of Giza, often called the Sphinx of Giza or simply the Sphinx, is a limestone statue of a reclining sphinx, a mythical creature with a lion’s body and a pharaoh’s head. Facing directly from West to East, it stands on the Giza Plateau on the west bank of the Nile in Giza, Egypt. The Sphinx’s face is generally believed to represent the pharaoh Khafre.
