- National Museum of Egyptian Civilization (NMEC) - The main Exhibition Hall showcases the four primary crafts that shaped Egyptian civilization: pottery, wood, textiles, and ornaments.
Here, you can view the world’s oldest prosthetic toe, a skeleton dating back 30,000 years, the Kaaba Cove, which was the last one made in Egypt during President Nasser’s era, and the Mahmal, which was used to carry the cover from Egypt to Saudi Arabia annually in a grand parade.
The National Museum of Egyptian Civilization is considered the first museum worldwide to provide a comprehensive view of Egyptian civilization throughout history, from prehistory to modern times. NMEC displays various objects to illustrate Egyptian civilization over time, starting with the predynastic and Ancient Egyptian periods, through the Greco-Roman, Coptic, Islamic, and modern history.
Additionally, you will see all the royal mummies, which were moved in a royal parade from the Egyptian Museum to the Civilization Museum.
- Cairo Citadel - Continue your day tour to The Citadel, where you will visit The Alabaster Mosque of Muhammad Ali Pasha.
- Mosque of Muhammad Ali - Visit the Mosque of Muhammad Ali Pasha. The Great Mosque of Muhammad Ali Pasha, or Alabaster Mosque, is located in the Citadel of Cairo, Egypt, and was commissioned by Muhammad Ali Pasha between 1830 and 1848.
Situated atop the citadel, this Ottoman mosque, the largest built in the first half of the 19th century, is the most visible mosque in Cairo, with its striking silhouette and twin minarets.
The mosque was constructed in memory of Tusun Pasha, Muhammad Ali’s eldest son, who passed away in 1816.
This mosque, along with the citadel, is a landmark and tourist attraction in Cairo and is one of the first features visible when approaching the city from any direction.
- Khan Al-Khalili - Continue your day tour to Khan El Khalili Bazaar. The numerous shops in this district are renowned for trading fine brassware, copper, perfumes, leather, silver, gold, antiques, and much more. (1-hour duration)
