Here, visitors will explore the Mohamed Ali Mosque, renowned as one of Cairo’s most beautiful mosques. It is also referred to as the Alabaster Mosque due to its outer walls being adorned with Alabaster Stone.
- Al-Rifa’i Mosque - Next, the tour proceeds to the prominent Al-Rifa’i Mosque, situated opposite the Mosque-Madrassa of Sultan Hassan, which dates back to around 1361. Architecturally designed to complement the older structure, this mosque was part of a 19th-century initiative by Egypt’s rulers to link themselves with the esteemed past of Egypt’s Islamic history while modernizing the city.
-
Mosque and Madrasa of Sultan Hassan - The tour continues with a visit to one of Cairo’s largest mosques, the Sultan Hassan Mosque, also known as
Madrasa El Sultan Hassan, founded by Sultan Hassan in 1356 A.D. This grand Mamluk-era mosque and madrassa is located near The Citadel in Cairo. - Al-Azhar Mosque - The journey then leads to Al-Azhar Mosque in Cairo, also known as the mosque of the most resplendent. Commissioned by Al-Mu’izz li-Din Allah of the Fatimid Caliphate in 970 for the newly established capital, its name is believed to honor the Islamic prophet Muhammad’s daughter Fatimah, a revered figure in Islam. It was the first mosque built in Cairo, a city now known as “the City of a Thousand Minarets.”
- Khan Al-Khalili - The tour concludes with a visit to Khan Al-Khalili, a place that has long inspired writers and artists. The atmosphere of this historic neighborhood is vividly captured in works like Najib’s novel “Khan Al Khalili.” Visitors will find a bustling street lined with shops, including those for watchmakers, calligraphers, tea sellers, carpet vendors, and antique dealers. Small cafés dot the area, where artisans sit in front of their shops, deeply engaged in their crafts.
The tour concludes with a drop-off at the customer’s hotel.
