- Luss - The eco-friendly visitor center, nestled in a woodland glade, serves as an excellent starting point for a hike into the Lost Valley. Discover the captivating stories that make Glencoe National Nature Reserve truly special.
The journey will take us over the Kingston and Erskine bridges, crossing the River Clyde each time, before entering The Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park. A stop at the conservation village of Luss on the beautiful banks of Loch Lomond allows time to explore the village and enjoy stunning views of Loch Lomond and Ben Lomond.
- Glencoe - From here, the drive continues through the highland villages of Crianlarich and Tyndrum, leading us up into Rannoch Moor. A stop at the majestic Glencoe provides an opportunity to learn about the haunting history of The Massacre of Glencoe in 1692. Depending on the season and weather, there will be a stop at either Fort William or the Glencoe visitor center for a meal.
- Glenfinnan - The road then leads west to Glenfinnan, where Bonnie Prince Charlie raised the Jacobite Standard on August 19, 1745. Here, the rich history of the area can be absorbed, along with a view of the viaduct. Visitors may catch a glimpse of the Harry Potter Bridge and possibly see the Jacobite Steam Train (Hogwarts Express) crossing over. The train operates from April 7 to October 24.
Enjoy breathtaking views of Loch Shiel from the viewpoint, as this loch served as the Black Lake at Hogwarts in the Harry Potter films, notably appearing in The Prisoner of Azkaban, The Goblet of Fire, and The Half-Blood Prince, where the loch’s stunning mountain scenery was featured as the home of sea creatures.
- Pitlochry - The journey then heads east back along the same road towards Fort William, entering the Cairngorm National Park before reaching either the highland town of Pitlochry or Taste Perthshire. Here, there is time to grab a quick bite or drink, or even enjoy some whisky ice cream, before returning to Glasgow, arriving around 7:30 pm approximately.
