Day Trip to Agra (Delhi - Agra - Delhi)
Taj Mahal - Depart from Delhi at 6:30 am and travel via the express highway to the Taj Mahal, where your adventure begins. Upon arrival in Agra, your tour guide will be waiting to brief you on your upcoming sightseeing tour. Visit the legendary Taj Mahal (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), widely regarded as the most beautiful building in the world. Built by Shah Jahan as a memorial for his third wife, Mumtaz Mahal, who passed away during childbirth in 1631, the enchanting allure of the Taj Mahal will undoubtedly be the highlight of your tour.
Agra Fort - Agra Fort (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) is a historic fort along the Yamuna River in Agra. It served as the main residence of the Mughal Dynasty emperors until 1638 and is one of the finest Mughal forts in India. As you walk through the courtyards of this grand red-sandstone and marble fortress, the scale of what was built here becomes increasingly impressive.
Mehtab Bagh - In the early evening, proceed to a Photo Tour of the Taj Mahal from Mehtab Bagh — the moonlit garden — believed to have been designed by Shah Jahan to view the Taj on moonlit nights, away from the bustling crowds. The garden complex is located on the left bank of the Yamuna, opposite the Taj Mahal. It is a large square measuring approximately 300x300 meters and is directly aligned with the Taj Mahal. The forestry plantations and agricultural fields provide a green forecourt to the Taj Mahal and its reflection in the Yamuna. Here, you can witness the sunset over the Taj Mahal.
New Delhi - After exploring the magical sights of Agra, return to Delhi and check into your hotel.
Delhi Sightseeing & Fly to Onward Destination
Humayun’s Tomb - After breakfast, check out from the hotel and visit Humayun’s Tomb (a UNESCO World Heritage site), the tomb of Mughal Emperor Humayun in Delhi. Constructed in the mid-16th century by Haji Begum, Humayun’s Persian-born wife, the tomb combines Persian and Mughal elements, with subtle decoration enhancing the architecture. The arched facade is inlaid with bands of white marble and red sandstone, and the building follows strict Islamic geometric principles, emphasizing the number eight.
Qutub Minar - Qutub Minar (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) is an unmissable, towering Afghan-style victory tower and minaret, erected by Sultan Qutb-ud-din in 1193 to proclaim his supremacy over the defeated Hindu rulers of Qila Rai Pithora.
Lotus Temple - Designed for peaceful worship, Delhi’s beautiful Lotus Temple (closed on Mondays) offers a rare oasis of calm in the bustling city. This architectural marvel was designed by Iranian-Canadian architect Fariburz Sahba in 1986. It is shaped like a lotus flower, with 27 delicate white-marble petals. The temple was created to unite different faiths; visitors are invited to pray or meditate silently according to their beliefs.
India Gate - This impressive 42-meter-high stone memorial arch was designed by Lutyens in 1921. It honors approximately 90,000 Indian army soldiers who died in WWI, the Northwest Frontier operations, and the 1919 Anglo-Afghan War.
Parliament House - This circular, colonnaded building, designed by Edwin Lutyens and Herbert Baker, was the site of the 1947 transfer of power from Britain to the newly independent India, and parliament still convenes here.
Rashtrapati Bhavan - Rashtrapati Bhavan, or the President’s House, is the official residence of the President of India. Formerly the home of the British Viceroy, the President’s House boasts 340 rooms and 2.5 km of corridors, offering a fascinating glimpse inside.
Indira Gandhi International Airport - In the evening, you will be transferred to the Delhi airport to board your flight to Goa, Mumbai, Cochin, Mangaluru, or Chennai. Upon arrival, you will be met and transferred to your hotel or another desired location.
