A Journey Through Time and Nature

As I embarked on the Divar Island Exploration tour, I was filled with anticipation. The island, known as Dveepvattika in ancient times, is a treasure trove of history and natural beauty. Our journey began with a visit to a church that has stood for over two centuries, a testament to the island’s rich past. The stories of the Kadamba dynasty, who once ruled this land, echoed through the ruins of their ancient temple. We were treated to a delightful snack of chana bhaji with poi, a local bread, as we chatted with a local host who shared stories of the island’s past and present.

The tranquility of the river was momentarily interrupted by the sight of a 12-foot crocodile basking on the riverbank, its eyes fixed on us with an unnerving intensity.

A Taste of Goan Culture

Our exploration concluded with a visit to a local tavern for a feny tasting. This locally brewed spirit, with its surprising array of flavors like jeera, ginger, and coriander, was a revelation. The tavern owner shared the intricate process of distilling feny, a craft passed down through generations. It was a fitting end to a day steeped in cultural discovery.

Throughout the tour, Miss Leanne proved to be an exceptional host. Her quick thinking and unwavering support during a minor car mishap at the jetty exemplified her dedication to ensuring our experience was seamless.
