Arrival at Bale Mountains
Bale Mountains National Park - Upon arriving at Goba airport, the team will greet visitors and drive them to Dinsho town, where the park’s headquarters is located. Arrival at Bale Mountains
Bale Mountains National Park - Upon arriving at Goba airport, the team will greet visitors and drive them to Dinsho town, where the park’s headquarters is located. The hike will commence through the park headquarters, offering the chance to observe some endemic and endangered mammals such as Menelik’s Bushbuck, Mountain Nyala, Warthog, Reedbuck, Gray Duikers, and Baboons. Additionally, visitors can spot Ethiopian endemic birds like the Black-headed Siskin, Wattled Ibis, and Abyssinian Catbird in the juniper woodlands of Bale Mountains HQ. Overnight stay will be at Dinsho Campsite, at an altitude of 3100 meters above sea level.
Trek from Dinsho to Sodota
Bale Mountains National Park - After breakfast, the 18-kilometer hike to Sodota Camp will begin. Along the route, the breathtaking landscapes of the Wolla and Web rivers near Dinsho will be visible. This area is home to various wildlife, including the Ethiopian Wolf, Rock Hyrax, and several birds of prey. The natural beauty of the Bale Mountains is celebrated internationally. The night will be spent at the Sodota campsite, located at an altitude of 3500 meters above sea level.
Trek from Sodota to Wasema
Bale Mountains National Park - This day will be filled with numerous natural attractions along the way. Passing through the Mararo Valley, there will be opportunities to see eagles nesting alongside the verros. There may also be sightings of the Ethiopian Wolf and several unique bird species. The journey is expected to take about seven hours. Overnight accommodation will be at the Wasema campsite, situated at an altitude of 3900 meters above sea level.
Trek from Wasema to Sanneti Plateau
Bale Mountains National Park - As the trek continues, the formation of the local mountain range becomes evident, shaped by the eruption of an ancient super-volcano and the significant impact of the ice age on Ethiopia’s landscape.
Drive to Harenna Forest
Bale Mountains National Park - After breakfast, meet the vehicle at the camp and drive towards Harenna Forest, the country’s second tropical rainforest. Along the way, there will be opportunities to see the rare and endangered Ethiopian Wolf, Abyssinian Hare, and water birds like the Blue-winged Goose, Ruddy Shelduck, and Wattled Crane. A hike in the forest will lead to a waterfall and the Bamboo trail, where the endemic Bale Monkey and numerous bird species can be observed. Overnight stay will be at Tokuma or a similar location.
Transfer to Airport for Flight Back to Addis
Bale Mountains National Park - After breakfast in the morning, visitors will be transferred to the airport for their flight back to Addis.
