Mount Nyiragongo - Following breakfast, the driver-guide will depart from the hotel, make a stop at the supermarket for some shopping, and then proceed to Kibati Village to commence the hiking adventure. The trek will last approximately 5 to 6 hours, offering views of various animals and birds along the way.
Arrive in the late afternoon and enjoy the sight of the lava lake throughout the evening before resting in a hut on the rim of the vast crater, high above the active lake. The ascent and descent of Nyiragongo are challenging and often occur in warm conditions, yet the trail is fairly straightforward and not overly steep. A backpack will be provided, containing a lunch package, warm fleece, and a sleeping bag. A personal cook will prepare a hot meal at the summit. Porters are available to carry luggage for US$ 24 each, payable on-site.
Descend the Volcano and Return to Your Destination
Mount Nyiragongo - In the early morning, enjoy breakfast with a stunning view of the Nyiragongo crater before beginning the descent. By noon, you will return to base camp.
After this incredible experience, it’s time to unwind. The driver/guide will transport you to Goma, where you will cross the border into Rwanda.
