Arrival in Kigoma – Livingstone Memorial & Lake Tanganyika Sunset

Dr. David Livingstone Memorial Museum - Ujiji - Upon arriving at Kigoma Airport, guests will receive a warm welcome from our local representative and be transferred to their hotel in Kigoma town.

Later in the day, embark on a cultural and historical journey with a guided tour of the Dr. David Livingstone Memorial in Ujiji, the renowned location where H.M. Stanley met Dr. Livingstone in 1871. Discover the story of their historic meeting, Ujiji’s role in early African exploration, and its importance along the shores of Lake Tanganyika.

Following the historical tour, proceed to the Lake Tanganyika beach to relax and enjoy a tranquil sunset over one of the world’s deepest and oldest lakes. This is an ideal opportunity for photography and relaxation after your travels.

In the evening, return to your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay in Kigoma.

Gombe National Park (Chimpanzee Trekking)

Gombe National Park - After an early breakfast at your hotel in Kigoma, you will be transferred to Kibirizi Port to commence your journey to Gombe National Park. Enjoy a picturesque boat ride across Lake Tanganyika, with stunning views of the shoreline and surrounding mountains as you approach the remote, forested park. Upon arrival, complete park registration and meet your knowledgeable park rangers and guide before embarking on a guided chimpanzee trekking adventure through the forest. Once the chimpanzees are found, observe their natural behaviors such as feeding, socializing, and moving in the wild. After the trek, return to the camp or lodge for lunch. The afternoon is free for relaxation by the lakeshore or a short guided nature walk. Dinner and overnight stay inside Gombe National Park.

Ngorongoro Crater National Park

Gombe National Park - After an early breakfast at the camp or lodge, embark on a full-day chimpanzee trekking adventure in Gombe National Park. Accompanied by experienced park rangers and a professional guide, follow chimpanzee families deep into the forest while learning about their behavior, social structure, and habitat. Once the chimpanzees are located, observe them feeding, moving through the forest, and interacting naturally in their environment. Return to the camp for lunch, followed by an optional hike to Jane’s Peak or a short guided forest walk. In the evening, enjoy dinner and an overnight stay inside Gombe National Park.

Ngorongoro Crater to Lake Manyara National Park

Gombe Stream National Park - After an early breakfast at the camp or lodge, depart Gombe National Park by boat and enjoy a final scenic cruise across Lake Tanganyika, taking in the beautiful lakeshore and surrounding landscapes.

Upon arrival in Kigoma town, you will be transferred to Kigoma Airport for your onward journey. Depending on flight time, there may be a brief opportunity to explore Kigoma town or make a quick stop along the lakeshore before departure.
