- Gua Tempurung - Tempurung Cave is a favorite among spelunkers and caving enthusiasts. Spanning over 3 km, it is one of the longest caves in Peninsular Malaysia. The cave’s tunnel stretches from east to west, covering approximately 2 km beneath the limestone hills known as Gunung Tempurung and Gunung Gajah. It consists of five large domes and is believed to have existed since 8,000 B.C., around 10,000 years ago.
Each dome features unique calcium formations and marble, with varying temperatures and water levels. These caves are renowned for their stunning gallery of stalagmites, stalactites, and other remarkable rock formations, which are extraordinary speleological wonders found only in this region.
- Kek Lok Tong Cave Temple and Zen Gardens - The Kek Lok Tong Cave Temple is a popular tourist destination. Situated on a 12-acre site, it has been a place of worship since 1920. In 1960, the cave became part of an iron mining site. This temple is located within a vast cave in the limestone outcrops behind Gunung Rapat.
The Kek Lok Tong complex includes a central altar with several Buddhist figures and various deities from the Chinese pantheon. A unique feature of the caves is the beautiful garden view that greets visitors inside. The limestone hill comprises light grey to white crystalline Kinta limestone interbedded with 5 mm to 1 cm thick argillaceous material bands. Primary iron is still visible within the limestone. The award-winning landscape garden features a jogging path encircling two lakes and one of the longest reflexology footpaths in Ipoh.
- Perak Tong Cave Temple - Visitors can admire a 40-foot tall golden sitting Buddha statue that dominates the temple. The cavern walls are adorned with colorful murals depicting characters and events from Chinese mythology. Behind the statue, a flight of over 450 steps leads into the far recesses of the cave and out through an opening on the side of the hill, offering a view of the northern suburbs of Ipoh from the highest pavilion.
- Sam Poh Tong Cave Temple - The Sam Poh Tong Temple is a Chinese temple built within a limestone cave and is the oldest and main cave temple in Ipoh, Perak, Malaysia. The temple was constructed in a raw limestone cave in the mountains, located about 5 km from the city center, and follows the Buddhist branch of Mahāyāna Buddhism.
- Perak Guanyin Cave - Perak Kwan Yin Tong, also known as Tokong Kwan Yin Tong or Kwan Yin Tong Temple, is a cave temple located at the foot of Gunung Rapat on Jalan Gopeng, Ipoh. The cave at Kwan Yin Tong extends about 20 meters under the cliff. The cave floor is paved with marble tiles, and the lower sections of the walls have been smoothed and whitewashed. The upper walls and roof remain in their natural cave state.
The temple is Buddhist and dedicated to the Bodhisattva Guanyin, commonly known as the Goddess of Mercy. Numerous statues of Guan Yin, both large and small, line the walls of the cave temple, along with colorful murals.
- Ling Sen Tong Temple - Ling Sen Tong likely attracts many tourists heading to the more famous cave temples. This temple is quite distinct from its neighbors. The garden in front is adorned with colorful statues of characters from Chinese mythology, such as the Monkey King from the classic tale Journey to the West.
The almost cartoon-like caricatures of dragons, the Goddess Kuan Yin, and other figures give the temple a children’s theme park atmosphere, making it a hit with kids.
- Concubine Lane - Ipoh Old Town was once a quiet town, often described by travelers as laid-back, with cafes, traditional coffees, food, and flourishing street art. The three Concubine Lanes were not widely known. In July 2016, Lonely Planet listed Ipoh as one of the best Asian destinations to visit, and photos of the Concubine Lanes began appearing in news articles.
- Ipoh Railway Station - The Ipoh Railway Station was initially intended to be a hospital and was used as such before the 20th century, before being converted into a station. The original completion year of 1917 was delayed by three years due to a lack of construction materials and high costs during World War I.
- Ipoh Town Hall and Old Post Office - Ipoh Town Hall is one of three colonial-era buildings in Ipoh designed by the renowned British architect Arthur Benison Hubback. The other two, Ipoh High Court and Ipoh Railway Station, are located a short distance apart. Ipoh Railway Station is on the opposite side of the road, and Ipoh High Court is the building next door.
