Soti Khola - After an early breakfast, the journey begins with a drive to Dhanding Besi, the district headquarters of Dhading. The road is smooth and well-paved, offering scenic views and glimpses of the Trishuli River along the way. From Dhanding Besi, the road diverges towards Arughat Bazaar. The journey ahead is dusty and bumpy, passing through rural communities, small towns, green terraces, and lush hillsides. The beautiful landscapes offer views of Annapurna, Manaslu, Ganesh, and Langtang Himal. The route reaches Machha Khola via Soti Khola, a major town on the banks of the Budhi Gandaki River. Soti Khola is an hour’s drive from Arughat.
Trek from Machha Khola to Jagat (1,340m)
Machhakhola - After breakfast, the trek to Jagat begins. The trail winds through a gorge and continues along the river, with narrow paths that gently rise and fall. The route crosses Tharo Khola before reaching Khorla Besi, a small Gurung village with beautiful views of Manaslu. From Khorla Besi, a steep climb leads to Tatopani, known for its hot springs. Another ridge climb and a suspension bridge crossing over the Budhi Gandaki River lead to Dovan. From Dovan, another suspension bridge crosses the Yaru Khola. The path ascends a stone staircase to Tharo Bharyang. Finally, the route crosses the Budhi Gandaki River, ascends a ridge, and climbs to Jagat, where the restricted area trekking begins.
Trek from Jagat to Deng (1,860m)
Manaslu - After breakfast at Jagat, the trek begins with a climb over a rocky ridge to Salleri, followed by a descent to Sardibas. The trail widens slightly as it approaches Ghatte Khola. Continuing upstream, a long suspension bridge leads to Philim, a large Gurung village with a pleasant natural setting. The trail turns north, traversing terraced fields to Ekle Bhatti. Entering a steep, deserted gorge, the path descends to a grassy slope. The route crosses the Budhi Gandaki River multiple times. The wide trail passes through a bamboo forest to Deng Khola. After crossing the Khola, Deng, a small village, is reached. The day’s trek covers various landscapes and sub-tropical forests, passing remote villages and small rivers.
Trek from Deng to Namrung (2,630m)
Manaslu - After breakfast, the trek continues through a forest and across the Budhi Gandaki River. The path climbs to Rana and further to Bhi. The trail heads west of the Budhi Gandaki valley, passing through forests and mani walls, before reaching Prok village. A viewpoint offers a view of Siring Himal. The route passes through various villages and several gompas, following the upstream trail through dense forest. Crossing the river, the trail enters a narrow gorge. A pleasant walk and a final steep climb lead to Namrung, a charming village offering glimpses of local life and culture, with views of Siring and Ganesh Himal.
Trek from Namrung to Syala (3,330m)
Manaslu - Namrung provides a good viewpoint for Siring, Ganesh Himal, and Himal Chuli to the south. A stroll around the village offers beautiful views. After breakfast, the trail climbs through forests to Lihi, a picturesque village with many chortens and barley terraces. The path descends and crosses the Simnang Himal Valley, passing through Sho and Lho before reaching Syala village. Along the way, views of Mt Manaslu, Himal Chuli, Ganesh Himal, and Peak 29 can be enjoyed. Ribung Gompa, a Buddhist monastery in Lho village, is also worth exploring.
Trek from Syala to Samagaon (3,530m)
Manaslu - Early in the morning, a hike to Pungen monastery offers an opportunity to experience high mountain Buddhism practices while enjoying the surrounding views. Pungyen Gompa, an old monastery near Samagaon, provides a great view of the glacier. The trek continues to Samagaon for rest.
Acclimatization Day
Manaslu - Today is an acclimatization day at Samagaon. It’s a day to relax and take a break from the week-long trek, allowing the body to adjust to the altitude. After breakfast, enjoy a free day.
For those interested in exploring, an optional day hike to Birendra Lake is available. The Sherpa village and culture can be explored, with thousands of mani stones inscribed with Buddhist mantras and pictures. Traditional Sherpa women in their attire and ornaments can also be seen.
Trek from Samagaon to Samdo (3,865m)
Manaslu - Today is a short trek, descending to the Budhi Gandaki River and continuing along the trail. The path widens, passing several mani walls, with stunning mountain views as the Tibetan border approaches. The trek is easy, with great views, traversing through Juniper and Birch forests in Kermo Kharka. After crossing the Budhi Gandaki River, the path continues to Samdo Village, near Tibet. Yak caravans with loads from Tibet may be seen. Local villages can be visited, and time can be enjoyed at Samdo.
Trek from Samdo to Dharmasala (4,470m)
Manaslu - After breakfast, the trek passes through Larke Bazaar, a seasonal Tibetan market, before descending to the Budhi Gandaki River. A wooden bridge is crossed, followed by a climb over two streams. Larke Glacier can be seen before heading around the Salka Khola Valley. The path climbs uphill to a stone house/shelter known as Dharmasala, also called Larke Phedi. Along the way, many Buddhist monasteries and stunning landscapes can be seen. Upon reaching Dharmasala, rest and acclimatization are advised.
Trek from Dharmasala to Bhimtang (3,590m) via Larke La Pass (5,160m)
Manaslu - Today is the most challenging day of the trek, passing through remote villages, beautiful valleys, and landscapes. Glacier lakes, diverse flora and fauna, and mountains are visible. After an early breakfast, a short climb leads to the valley on the north side of the Larke Glacier. From here, views of Cho Danda and Larke Peak can be enjoyed. The path crosses the glacier moraine, becoming steeper until reaching the pass. Larke La is the highest point in the Manaslu Circuit Trek, offering panoramic views of Himlung Himal, Cheo Himal, and Annapurna II. The descent to Bimthang reveals huge icefalls and mountains.
Trek from Bhimthang to Tilje (2,300m)
Manaslu - After breakfast in Bimthang, the trek continues to a nearby ridge, offering great views of Manaslu, Lamjung Himal, Himlung Himal, and Cheo Himal. The path descends the ridge and crosses a high pasture (Sangure Kharka), then crosses a bridge over Dudh Khola and passes through a rhododendron forest. The trail follows a narrow valley to the highest cultivated land at Karche. A steep climb over a ridge and a short walk lead to Gho Village. The trek continues to Tilje.
Trek from Tiliche to Chamje (1,385m)
Manaslu - After breakfast, the path climbs over a small ridge and descends to Tal. The route crosses the Dudh Khola and climbs a stupa-shaped arch to reach Thonje Village. The trek continues to Dharapani, where the Manaslu Circuit Trek ends. From here, the Annapurna Conservation Area is entered. The path descends to Tal, a beautiful village.
Trek from Chamje to Syage (1,400m)
Manaslu - Today marks the final day of the trek, descending to reach Syage. The trek is slow and easy, allowing for reflection on the journey’s memorable moments.
Drive from Syage to Besisahar (760m) by Jeep, then to Kathmandu
Besisahar - The drive from Syage to Kathmandu via Besisahar follows the banks of the Marshyandi and Trishuli Rivers. The journey passes through beautiful villages, offering views of hills and mountain landscapes. Arrival is in the late evening, with an escort to the hotel. A farewell dinner celebrates the successful completion of the journey.
