Drive from Kathmandu to Arughat (570m) and continue to Sotikhola, 8-9 hour journey.
Soti Khola - The journey begins early towards Soti Khola. The drive offers picturesque views of the countryside, showcasing the local lifestyle and stunning mountain landscapes. The road from Kathmandu to Dhading Besi, the district headquarters of Dhading (1050m), is smooth, but from Dhading Besi to Arughat, the road becomes rough. Upon reaching Arughat, a significant town in the area, the drive continues towards Soti Khola.
Trek from Sotikhola to Machhakhola (930m), 5-6 hours.
Trek from Machhakhola to Jagat (1370m), 5-6 hours.
Jagat - The narrow trail involves several small ascents and descents, eventually crossing the Tharo Khola to reach Khorlabesi. After a few more ups and downs, a small natural hot spring is found in Tatopani. From there, the trail crosses another ridge and the Budhi Gandaki on a suspension bridge. A climb on a wide, well-crafted staircase follows, then across a landslide and over a ridge to Doban. After crossing the suspension bridge over the Yaru Khola, the trail ascends stone stairs and descends to the river, then climbs more stone stairs to Tharo Bharyang. Crossing to the west bank of the Budhi Gandaki, the trail climbs over another ridge and follows the river to reach the village of Jagat.
Trek from Jagat to Deng (1920m), 6-7 hours.
Nepal - After breakfast, the day starts with a climb over a rocky ridge to Salleri, followed by a descent to Sirdibas. The valley widens as the trail continues to Ghatta Khola. The walk proceeds upstream to a long suspension bridge in Philim, a large Gurung village. The trail remains fairly level as it crosses millet fields to Ekle Bhatti. The route then enters a steep, uninhabited gorge. At this point, the trail descends to grassy slopes, crosses the Budhi Gandaki, and then follows the west bank for a while. As the trail continues, the valley widens, passing through bamboo forests to the Deng Khola. Shortly after, the tiny village of Deng is reached.
Trek from Deng to Namrung (2250m), 6-7 hours.
Namrung - Leaving Deng, the trail crosses the Budhi Gandaki again and ascends to Rana (1910m). The path climbs a bit more to take the trail from Bhi, then heads west up the Budhi Gandaki valley. The trail passes through mixed forests and goes through Prok village, offering a perfect viewpoint for Siringi Himal. The Budhi Gandaki is crossed several times today, with opportunities to visit several gompas. The trail follows the river upstream through a dense forest, which becomes less dense and levels out. The pleasant walk continues, and after one last steep incline, Namrung is reached.
Trek from Namrung to Sama Gaun (3450m), 6 hours.
Rest day for acclimatization and hike to Manaslu Base Camp.
Trek from Sama Gaun to Samdo (3780m) 3-4 hours.
Manaslu - The day involves descending to the Budhi Gandaki River, which has turned north, and following it to a bridge over a side stream. The trail to the left leads to Manaslu Base Camp. The Larke La Trail passes several mani walls as the valley widens. It is an easy trail above the river, passing through juniper and birch forests of Kermo Kharka. The trail descends, crosses the Budhi Gandaki on a wooden bridge, and climbs steeply. From a stone arch, a large white kani can be seen. Finally, passing through the kani, Samdo is reached.
Trek from Samdo to Dharmasala (4460m), 3-4 hours.
Manaslu - Shortly after starting the trail, a wooden bridge over the Budhi Gandaki is crossed, and the path continues upward. After crossing two streams and witnessing the Larkya Glacier, the trail goes around the valley of the Salka Khola and climbs again to the stone guest house (4460m), known as Dharmshala or Larke Phedi. The short walk today allows ample time for acclimatization and relaxation in the afternoon.
Trek from Dharmasala to Bimtang (3630m) via Larkya La pass (5135m), 7-8 hours.
Manaslu - A short climb leads to a valley on the north side of the Larkya Glaciers, offering spectacular views of Cho Danda and Larke Peak. The trail crosses moraines of the glacier, with a gradual ascent that becomes steeper near the pass. From the pass, there are breathtaking views of Himlung Himal, Cheo Himal, Kangguru, and the massive Annapurna II. It is a longer day than usual to Bimtang, but walking into these low pastures with the evening mist and face-to-face views of Manaslu is a thrilling experience.
Trek from Bimtang to Tilje (2240m), 5-6 hours.
Manaslu - Surki is the lunch stop today. The trail heads in this direction, mostly on narrow paths, reaching Surki, a small settlement, in about four hours. Lunch is enjoyed at one of the five or six service providers. It takes a couple more hours to reach Tilje from here. Although Tilje is a small settlement, it offers several accommodation options.
Trek from Tilje to Dharapani (1830m) and drive to Besisahar (760m), 2-3 hours walk and 4-5 hour drive.
Besisahar - The day begins with a long, but easy descent. A stop at Dharapani is made for lunch. After lunch, the journey continues. Entering the Annapurna Conservation area requires presenting another permit. Soon, a scenic drive leads to Besisahar.
Drive back to Kathmandu by bus, 5-6 hours.
Kathmandu - The return to Kathmandu is on a tourist bus, taking approximately six hours. Breakfast and lunch are enjoyed on the highway, with the bus arriving in Kathmandu. A farewell dinner is planned for the evening.
