A sight worth seeing and being enchanted by. Initially named Vale do Bom Retiro, after a fire devastated the vast forest in the area, Leopoldo Rosenfeldt created the lake, adorning its banks with trees imported from Germany’s Black Forest, hence the name, Lago Negro. Its waters are deep and a rich dark green, mirroring the tall pine trees that alternate with the vibrant azaleas in winter and the blue hydrangeas in summer. A flower-lined promenade encircles the lake, perfect for a leisurely walk. However, the main attraction is the pedal boats, which add a lively and colorful touch to the lake. - Bondinhos Aéreos Parques da Serra - A trailblazing attraction in Canela, Serra Gaúcha, the Aerial Cable Cars have been captivating tourists and locals for over 9 years. This tour offers a chance to admire the Caracol Cascade from a unique and privileged frontal view, one of Brazil’s most stunning landmarks.
The park is divided into Central, Animal, and Waterfall stations, where visitors can disembark at each to enjoy the scenery and its amenities, including an ecological trail that provides a direct connection with nature, followed by wooden sculptures that capture the shape, sound, and texture of animals.
- Paróquia Nossa Senhora de Lourdes - Constructed in 1953 by architect Bernardo Sartori, the Igreja Matriz de Nossa Senhora de Lourdes, also known as Catedral de Pedra, is a Catholic church situated in Praça da Matriz, in Canela, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. Although not technically a cathedral, it is popularly referred to as the Stone Cathedral. It is a major tourist attraction in the city and Serra Gaúcha. In August 2010, it was voted one of the Seven Wonders of Brazil. In 2016, it secured fifth place in the Travelers Choice award by TripAdvisor as one of the top 10 tourist attractions in Brazil.
- Vitivinicola Jolimont - Nestled in the picturesque Morro Calçado, the Jolimont Winery ranks among the most visited attractions of the past year. With a stunning view, Jolimont offers an immersive experience into the world of wine. It’s a tour that allows visitors to fully engage with the captivating universe of wine and its entire production process from vineyard to glass.
- Pórtico via Nova Petrópolis - A stop at the most charming gateway in Gramado. We pause for our guests to capture the moment with photographs.
- Castelinho Caracol - Castelinho Caracol is one of the earliest residences in Canela. Constructed in the early 20th century by Pedro Carlos Franzen and Luiza Sommer Franzen, entirely from Araucaria wood, a pine tree native to the region. The construction utilized fittings and screws, without nails.
The residence was occupied until 1980 by the eldest daughter Irene, and in 1985, Castelinho Caracol was converted into a Museum and Tea House. Traditional recipes such as Apfelstrudel and Waffel, prepared on the original wood stove, are available for visitors to enjoy in the two tea rooms within the Museum. Castelinho Caracol, with its preserved walls, showcases the legacy of Pedro Franzen, offering a genuine journey into the past.
- Canela - The Garfo e Bombacha steakhouse is truly unique! It features a theme that embodies the authentic Gaucho style with traditional music and dances, highlighting cultural details for visitors to cherish as memorable souvenirs. In a self-service format, guests can savor a diverse buffet of hot dishes, salads, and desserts, along with the traditional barbecue featuring premium cuts of meat and the renowned ribs cooked in a ditch.
