Wandering through its narrow streets, adorned with distinctive architecture, feels like stepping into a fairy tale. Visitors will explore a handicraft store to admire the renowned “jarapas,” vibrant carpets unique to the region. After the guided tour, there will be free time to purchase local products, such as honey or wine.
• Capilerilla - In Capilerilla, the highest village on the itinerary at 4,711 feet, the exploration of the area’s history continues. A brief hiking tour will showcase the famous “cortijos,” traditional country houses still in use in La Alpujarra. From this vantage point, the stunning valley and the highest peaks of the Sierra Nevada can be admired.
• Capileira - Time for lunch.
• Bubion - The second stop is Bubion, a mere 5-minute drive from Pampaneira. In Bubion, visitors will explore the “Casa Museo Alpujarreña,” a house transformed into a museum to provide insight into life in the Alpujarra until recently, and how it remains for many residents.
