Amazing tour of the Alhambra - Abubakr’s knowledge of the Arabic language, culture and philosophy brought the Alhambra to life. Can’t recommend him enough. And we made a new friend.

Wondrous Alhambra - We had a private tour with Lara who was wonderful: extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and obviously passionate about the palaces. Lara enhanced our Alhambra experience 100-fold. Highly recommended.
One thing to note. The complex is very, very large, with some hills, some steps, and uneven surfaces. It’s easy enough to manage but something to keep in mind. The Alhambra is magnificent, the ingenuity of the architects is astounding and, in our opinion, a must-see experience. Thank you Lara!!

Must do! - Our Moroccan tour guide (forgive me for not catching his full name) was fantastic!!! He taught us so much about the writing in the artwork and structure of the architecture! Such a fantastic experience. This private tour was well worth the price tag!

Outstanding Alhambra visit - Our guide, Abu Bakr, was outstanding- so knowledgeable about all the different aspects of Muslim architecture and culture of the time. We learnt so much from him. I would recommend him very highly to anyone wanting to, not just see but also, to learn.

Highly Recommend a Private Tour - We highly recommend this private tour if you are willing to pay, as it is very expensive versus group tours. The more economical private tours offered directly from the Alhambra book very early and weren't available when we looked only a few weeks before our date. We feel lucky to have found this tour by a secondary operator which still offered full access of the Alhambra but at a premium. To us it was worth it because it was the only way to see the Nasrid Palaces with such short notice. Our tour guide Vanessa was amazing. She is a local Granada resident who has a passion for history, her country and the Alhambra. She was able to weave us around big tour groups and brought us through less busy walkways to go from place to place, so it didn't seem as crowded and kept us going at a faster pace. We also skipped the line in front of large tour groups that were assembled at the entrances. Our only hiccup was at the start of the tour with our meeting spot. We put the address into Apple Maps while walking from our hotel and it took us somewhere different within the free section of the Alhambra. Luckily I was able to communicate with the tour operator and our guide met us where we were. If you book the tour and wish to walk there, note that the meeting spot is at the main entrance. You should see a sign that references a generic tour meeting spot, so you'll know you're in the right spot. If we would've taken a taxi, I'm sure it would've dropped us at the right spot. And dont forget your passports... you'll need them at the entrance!

Beware - Very disappointing last minute cancellation - Despite buying very expensive tickets well in advance we were told hours before the entry time that we would not be provided with tickets to Nasrid Palaces and there would be no private tour. We were given tickets that gave us entry to the other areas of the Alhambra. Although there was a disclaimer on the website I thought it applied to force majeure events. When I spoke to the representative I got the impression that they obtain the tickets (or not) from the facility at the last minute. We did get a refund but it felt like a scam and was a great disappointment. My advice is to skip these tours, plan your trip well in advance and buy your ticket directly from the facility.

Terrible Experience - WARNING DO NOT USE THIS TOUR OPERATOR AND READ ON. If you do, you may not see the Alhambra you flew across the world to see. I’ve worked in hospitality across 3 continents for many years and this is hands down the worst show of hospitality I’ve ever seen. This tour operator uses cheap tricks and takes cheap shots at its customers. Only a week or less before the tour, we received a message that my husband and I might not be able to go on the tour because they DIDN’T have our tickets AFTER of course we already committed the great expense and time of flying across oceans to visit the Alhambra. This is also after we literally received a confirmation email saying our tour was reserved in all caps and saying they’ll eventually send over our tickets. Here’s the cheap trick they pulled—the FINE PRINT says they can accept our booking, reserve our tour, even accept a whopping $500 payment, and still not take us on the tour. At the last second. LOL. Let’s talk about the fine print — on their main page, I have to make it through over 400 words NOT including reading through the full itinerary highlights (a lot more words) to find this fine print buried. It’s also not a warning that is sent when they email you the all caps RESERVED confirmation email. I called the situation absurd, because it is, and said what’s in the fine print wasn’t adequately advertised because, to say the least, it isn’t. I asked them to try to secure the tickets we were 100% relying on. They didn’t respond to me. I asked for an update. They didn’t respond to me. I literally received what was called our “tickets” but guess what?! Still not real tickets! The tour operator finally messaged me back blaming me, blaming the customer, for not finding the fine print. They literally threatened that my messaging them (and my being ghosted) MIGHT MAKE IT MORE DIFFICULT FOR THEM TO OBTAIN MY TICKETS. They used sexist language like telling me outright that I have a tendency to create conflict, those words verbatim. They told me I was being aggressive. A woman shouldn’t dare to call a messed up situation absurd and ask for updates! In the long run, they didn’t get tickets for my husband and I, and we flew across the world and didn’t get to see what we came to see, the Alhambra. You should not be able to accept someone’s booking and payment and have that be meaningless. We could’ve looked at other real options but by the time they told us they didn’t have our tickets it was too late. No one is going to think hey I received a confirmation email saying my tour was reserved, saying nothing but that, and also think their tour isn’t in reality reserved. When someone receives what’s called “tickets”, they aren’t going to think oh hey these might not be real tickets. You are to blame, your customers aren’t to blame. At the very least, take the fine print and ensure it’s bolded at the top of your main page and ensure that messaging is in the confirmation reserved email your customers receive. Better yet though, get rid of this bad business practice altogether and don’t accept someone’s booking unless you 100% can (like normal).
