All Wine No Whine - An unforgettable experience visiting scenic wineries along the Priorat region. Ivan’s tour was nothing short of a well informed guide of wine culture and their booking logistics couldn’t have been easier. We recommend anyone visiting Barcelona to take this tour whether your a novice or experienced wino ;)

Authentic / educational wine tour - I’d recommend the Priorat wine tour to anyone looking for an authentic tour where you really get a feeling for the people, the region and the process of making wine at a small facility / family business. The transportation was very comfortable and the ride was enjoyable, with a quick stop to see a Roman aqueduct (and bathroom break!) Ivan is extremely knowledgeable regarding Spanish history; an added bonus while you are making your way to the first tasting. I appreciated that at each stop he stepped away to allow the winery to personally lead the tour / tasting at their facility— it felt very intimate — and very different from the large house vineyard tastings I’ve done in the past. We enjoyed the wines at each stop and the lunch was high quality — much more than I had excepted for the price. (and they made tasty accommodations for our vegetarian diner).

An amazing day - don't miss out! - Big thank you to Joan, our amazing guide for our trip to Priorat! Joan is not just a wine lover, but a qualified sommelier who was fun, personable and incredibly insightful into the beautiful, rugged wine region of Priorat. The three wineries we explored were all amazing and the food at Clos Figueras was delicious. We even got to do one tasting in the vineyard. A special experience I will never forget. Gracias Joan!

Can’t miss tour for wine lovers! - Joan was a terrific guide. He was very knowledgeable with wine and passionate for the region. The scenery was terrific, the wines we tasted were fantastic and the lunch at Clos Figeroas was 10 out of 10. If you are in the Barcelona area and love wine this is a can’t miss tour.

An amazing two days drinking Catalonian Wine - Ivan is a great guide and host. He arranged incredible tours for me in Penedes and Priorat. All of the chosen locations were great. Joan who guided us in Penedes is an encyclopedia of wine knowledge. I learned and tasted so many things. If you are a big wine nerd like me, tell Ivan that your group would prefer the most serious options so he can arrange for more intensive tours. Otherwise let him choose and you’ll have a blast.

Wish we had the experience others have raved about. - We were super disappointed with the day. I waffled between 2 and 3 stars, but given all the 5 star reviews, I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt that it was an off day. The day started with some initial confusion on pickup, I had messaged them in advance with my whatsapp number but the guide, Joan, called my US number which was just forwarding missed call notifications since I was on an eSim - and the reason why I told them in advance to use Whatsapp. I messaged Wino tours asking if it was them calling and they said no, but after multiple missed calls, I called the number back via Whatsapp and it was indeed our guide letting us know he was going to be late. We picked up one other couple and had a long drive, as expected, to the first winery, Cellar Cal Pla. It was very hot out and pretty warm in the van and we were disappointed there were no waters for us, I guess we're just used to other tours where that is standard. I wished we had been advised to bring water. Despite being a Priorat tour, the only thing that our guide Joan told us about Priorat was he didn't like the wine and instead talked about himself for the whole drive. His wine export business and margins, how he only does these tours as a favor, his busy travel schedule, how he only drinks and sells natural wines, how the Cava from his home town was the biggest winery in the world (which a quick google search debunked), his favorite wine from Alsace, how special he was to drink an old Vermouth from a ship wreck, and on and on and on... But we learned nothing about Priorat. We arrived at the first winery, Cal Pla, and the visit here was great. 11 generation family owned winery, great tour and tasting, interesting, quaint, and the wine was good. If the tour had ended here, it would have been great. Unfortunately, the rest of the day was a complete waste of time. From Cal Pla, we drove to Clos Figueras, about another 30 minutes. When we arrived, Joan handed us off to a waiter and left. Unfortunately, the waiter really didn't understand English and understanding the menu options was confusing and awkward. Lunch was fine, but certainly nothing special, and took well over 2 hours! For a day that is only about 4.5 hours after drive time is taken out, having a lunch take half the time was disappointing. There was no wine 'tasting', you got wine with the meal only if you did the pairing, and even then it was poured without even showing us the bottle, I had to flag the waitress down as she was walking away after the first two pours to even see what we were being served. The best description I ever got of any of the wines was simply the varietals and the ageing period - that was it. No description of the wine, difference between 1st and 2nd label, farming methods, etc... for a tasting tour, that was really disappointing. The only positive of this visit is their wine was pretty good, even if I still know nothing about it. After lunch we did a very short tour of the facilities and I was shocked it was over when she said "any questions? okay, thank you" and walked away leaving us in the courtyard. The other couple and us just stared at each other because we didn't know what we were supposed to do. So we went back into the restaurant and just stood in the air conditioning until our guide reappeared several minutes later to take us to the next winery. The third winery, Devinssi, was a short walk from Figueras. When we arrived, the proprietor left saying he'd be back soon and for Joan to give us the tour. The tour was basically "as you can see, this is a smaller production... any questions?". Then we gathered around the table and waited for the host to return. He returned and we started our tasting, but then another family arrived for a tasting at the same time. We were pushed to the far end of the table and the tasting restarted probably 15 minutes later after the family finally got settled. We then felt super forgotten about, the host, our guide Joan, and the other Spanish speaking family all were basically having their own conversation while we just sat at the far end of the table staring at our watches wondering when we'd move on to the next wine. The feeling of being irrelevant became super apparent when our guide Joan was refilling the non-tour family's water glasses and didn't even offer any to us or the other couple in the tour. After that, the other couple in our group had enough and literally just stood up and stared at Joan, signaling they were ready to go. We were glad they did so we could end the day and head back to the city on time. On the way back, we were offered little electric fans. This was great, except for two things. We cooked in the van for 2 hours on the drive out plus 30 minutes between wineries - why weren't these fans offered then? Second, the battery on most of them was drained so we passed around and shared the ones that worked. Unfortunately, I would not recommend this tour.

Disappointing... if you're passionate about wine and want to learn more, find another tour - My husband and I love wine and have participated in many wine tours in California and France. We wanted to explore Priorat and learn more about the region and the wines they produce. This is not the tour for you if you already have a decent base of wine knowledge. Our tour guide, Joan, was more interested in telling us about himself, his import / explore wine business, his opinion on natural wines, his experiences, etc than educating us about the region or sharing anything about the family owned wineries we were visiting. Our first winery visit was amazing. 11 generations in the same family, with the current generation owner, John, providing an amazing tour and tasting. Joan participated in the tasting, often having his own conversations with John in Spanish. (I should add that we were all Americans on the tour, with limited to no Spanish language skills.) We were then driven to the next location and dropped off for lunch. Joan disappeared until we were done with the tour. That visit was a waste of time. The tour took only about 10 minutes, while the lunch took 2 hours, of which most of it was waiting for food to arrive. The food was underwhelming, and the pairing was disappointing, with minimal explanation of the wine. The 3rd winery was close to the restaurant, but we were then joined by a family of 5, including 4 children, 2 of which were under 5 years old. I am a big supporter of bringing children to wine tasting (I have 2 myself), but not when it derails other people. Our guide, Joan, was more focused on serving them than our group. And we were often left waiting to taste another wine, as the host and Joan were having their own conversation in Spanish. The host asked Joan to conduct the tour for us at the winery, as he had to step out. Again, the 'tour' was simplistic and done in about 5 minutes. There was no interest in educating us, but rather 'getting it over'. Joan gave us the option of stopping by one more winery at a monastery, but we all opted out. Why would we want another subpar experience? And then have Joan insert himself into our conversations? Such a disappointment. Perhaps if you get a different guide than Joan, you could consider this tour. Or if this is your first wine tour. But as passionate winos, we were left severly wanting.
