- Seppelt Great Western - Join a Seppelt tour guide for a fascinating glimpse into Australia’s pioneering wine history as you explore the heritage-listed underground cellars, known as “The Drives.” These hand-dug cellars, excavated by out-of-work gold miners beginning in 1868, took over 60 years to complete and stretch for 3 kilometers, capable of holding over 3 million bottles of wine. The Drives are the largest underground cellars in the Southern Hemisphere and a must-visit in the Grampians Region.
After emerging from the underground, enjoy a journey through Seppelt’s sparkling wines, including the iconic Seppelt Sparkling Shiraz, first produced in the early 1890s.
Tours depart from the Seppelt Wines Cellar Door daily at 11 am, 1 pm, and 3 pm. A visit to the Grampians is not complete without experiencing Seppelt Great Western’s historic cellars.

The best winery experience going through its history. - My visit to Seppelt was a highlight of our trip to Great Western. The underground tour was both fascinating and informative, offering a unique look into the winery’s rich history and winemaking techniques. The wine tasting at the end was fantastic especially the sparkling wine, which was my personal favorite. A big thank you to Ricky, who was a wonderful guide knowledgeable, friendly, and great at explaining each step of the process. This experience is a must if you're visiting the area!

Great guide. Incredible history. - I would thoroughly recommend the First underground cellar tour. Our guide, Ricky was very knowledgeable and quick witted. The history is quite incredible and it is great that local community are continuing to keep these wonderful site going. Well worth the trip.

Historic and memorable - Absolutely amazing experience. Ricky gave us the full experience. Terrific knowledge of the history of Seppelt wines while also explaining not only the manufacturing of the wine but also the importance to the local community. Incredible and cannot recommend it more highly.

Very interesting tour . We had Ricky as our tour guide, he was very charming and informative fellow. We learnt a lot about win - Very interesting history . Very nice host. It's a pity more people weren't with us, as we were the only ones on the tour, but Ricky was very good and didn't mind giving us a personal tour

Underground tour. - Day trip for the mates new limo service. Absolutely brilliant tour by Mark, very informative and knowledgeable guide. Bought back a lot of memories having worked there nearly 50 yrs ago. Very nice tastings after the tour.

Ricky makes this tour - The tour guide Ricky is both knowledgeable and entertaining on the history of this unique establishment. After viewing the museum you venture into the outside and then into the building continuing through until you enter the underground experience. All follow by a tasting.

Great historical tour of the winery 🍷🍷 - Amazing experience with Ricky … very knowledgeable and easygoing tour guide…. Hidden gem …. Loved the history and tunnels , even bought some wine after the tasting 🍷🍷🍷🍷🍷
