Brilliant Staff and Displays – Great for Kids, Though Can Get Busy - We visited the London Transport Museum as a family with young children after an early morning flight from Copenhagen. We were booked to visit earlier in the week, but the museum was closed due to a power cut. The staff were very helpful, and it was out of their control. Although we didn’t stay long — about an hour — it was still a fun and worthwhile stop. The staff were all very polite and helpful, which made the visit feel really welcoming. We especially appreciated the luggage drop-off and buggy parking — a small but very helpful feature when you’re travelling with kids. The museum has packed a wonderful amount of historic transport into a fairly compact space. My son enjoyed seeing the vehicles and especially loved the interactive ticket punching activity, which was a lovely touch. Unfortunately, it got a bit too busy for him to manage comfortably, but that’s more about timing than the museum itself. Overall, a really enjoyable experience and definitely worth visiting — especially earlier in the day if your child finds crowds challenging.

Skip the screaming children and go to Acton Depot if you are serious about London’s transport history. - Having done the Acton Depot tour a few years ago which was amazing, we thought we should try the museum at Covent Garden as we were in London for a few days. I wish we’d not bothered, as we had to fight our way through hundreds of screaming children running around and causing a general nuisance. Apart from the odd one the teachers and parents didn’t seem too bothered about their children causing mayhem, such is the way of modern parenting these days. The museum itself is expensive and small, but there is enough to interest a visitor for an hour or two. For those with a real interest in the history of the underground and other transport in London I’d say skip this place and go to the Acton Depot.

Avoid and go to the fantastic free museums London has to offer. - Very expensive given the amount of free museums in London so had high expectations. Most lifts were out of order. The cloakroom was closed. Entrance toilets out of order. Main toilets absolutely filthy. Screaming children running around. Signs on exhibits faded and impossible to read. All forgivable if it was a free museum but would completely avoid at the price being charged.
