Rich in history, Windsor Castle majestically sits on a lush, wooded hill overlooking the Thames. With origins dating back to Norman times, its expansive landscaped gardens and turreted Round Tower make it clear why it is the Queen’s preferred weekend retreat. Visitors can enjoy an intriguing glimpse into the opulent State Apartments, which house priceless artworks by Rembrandt and Leonardo da Vinci, and explore St. George’s Chapel, the atmospheric final resting place of former monarchs, including Henry VIII. Additionally, Queen Mary’s Dolls’ House can be visited, an astonishing structure featuring working lifts, running water, electricity, and miniature wine bottles!

This tour is self-guided, and visitors will spend approximately 2 hours at Windsor Castle.

• Windsor Castle closures: As Windsor Castle is a working royal palace, sometimes the entire Castle or the State Apartments within the Castle need to be closed at short notice. Every Tuesday and Wednesday 24-26 December Castle closed
• Semi-State Rooms: During the winter months an additional five rooms, known collectively as the Semi-State Rooms, are included in the visitor route.
• St. George’s Chapel: St. George’s Chapel is closed to visitors on Sundays as services are held throughout the day. Worshippers are welcome to attend the services. It also closes at 4pm during the week, so please ensure that this is one of the first places you visit upon arrival.
• Infants aged 0-2 can join this tour for free however they must sit on the lap of a parent/guardian. If you would like a seat for your infant, please purchase a child ticket. We do not provide car seats.
