• Isthmus of Corinth - The Isthmus of Corinth is a slender land bridge linking the Peloponnese peninsula with mainland Greece, near Corinth city. In ancient times, it was recognized as the boundary between the Peloponnese and mainland Greece. Since 1893, the Canal has traversed the 6.3 km (3.9 mi) wide isthmus, effectively transforming the Peloponnese into an island.
• The Diolkos - The Diolkos was a paved trackway near Corinth in Ancient Greece, facilitating the overland movement of boats across the Isthmus of Corinth. This shortcut allowed ancient vessels to bypass the lengthy and perilous circumnavigation of the Peloponnese peninsula.
• Ancient Port of Kenchreai - Kechrees served as the eastern port of Corinth, reaching its zenith during the century when Corinth was a Roman colony. It consistently functioned as Corinth’s commercial port. Today, remnants of the port include modifications and additional constructions from Roman times. The port’s alcove was encircled by tunnels and harbor facilities. At the southern breakwaters, there were storerooms, a nymphaeum, a temple for Isis, and the early Christian Basilica from the 4th century A.D. At the northern breakwaters, there was a square tower, Aphrodite’s sanctuary, and various other structures. In 53 A.D., St. Paul the Apostle disembarked at Kechrees during his initial visit to Corinth.
• Ancient Corinth (Archaia Korinthos) - The archaeological site of Corinth provides a window into its rich history. Among its many notable remains, visitors can explore the magnificent Temple of Apollo, a symbol of the city’s ancient splendor. Of particular interest to Christians is the Bema, a raised platform where Paul is believed to have preached the Gospel to the Corinthians. Additionally, the Agora, the ancient marketplace, offers insights into the city’s vibrant commercial life during Paul’s era.
• Archaeological Museum of Corinth - The Museum of Ancient Corinth, established in 1932, houses numerous artifacts unearthed by archaeological excavations. During 2007-2008, the Museum underwent upgrades funded by the 3rd CSF. It features two galleries containing prehistoric collections and finds from the Sanctuary of Asklepios.
• Acrocorinth - Acrocorinth served as the fortified acropolis for ancient and medieval Corinth. Its fortification was ensured through a system of three enclosures, separated by walls, and reinforced by towers and bastions. Three imposing pillars lead to its interior, where ruins from buildings of all eras can be seen. Parts of the classical period wall are visible, along with fortifications from the Byzantine period, extended fortification works from the Frankish and Venetian rule, and additional works mainly from the Ottoman rule.
