Chania - shopping and eating - Jump at the chance for this tour experience. Our tour guide Maria was phenomenal...kind, caring and so knowledgable of Chania. We had an absolutely wonderful day!

Perfect day! - We were picked up right at the port in a nice air conditioned van that fit our party of six. First we went to a lovely winery and had a delicious lunch. Then we drove to a lookout on the island for photos. Lastly we went to the harbor for a drink and shopping. This day was tailored to what we wanted to do and it was a perfect day! Thank you!

Best Guide Anywhere! - We consider Maria a great guide. When we visited Crete in 2025 she told my wife about a book called "The Island." It was a historical fiction book about Spinalonga, and island on the eastern side of Crete where people with leprosy were sent to die We knew that when we returned to Crete that was the one place we had to go. I contacted her by email and kept it as a surprise for my wife until a few days before our trip.
Maria made time in her busy schedule to travel from Chania to the port in Heraklion to meet us. There are very few people I would make a two hour drive for, but she made it for us and was waiting at the cruise terminal. We drove for an hour to Plaka where a boat to the island and a small meal were part of our excursion.
She is amazing. Maria is a wonderful person - intelligent, loving, and full of life, but she is even a better guide because she connects with her customers.
I reviewed Spinalonga and the Archaeological Museum separately from this entry but attached some great pictures from our day in Crete. Maria offered for us to come back in the Fall to make wine - we are seriously considering it. If you haven't figured it out from all the five star reviews - Maria is the only person you need as your guide!
Booking a tour with her is a "no brainer.

A unique day with Maria! - We had an amazing time. We also had a one-year-old baby and Maria really helped us with everything. He had a baby seat, delicacies for us and specials for babies. All the places were beautiful! It really was an amazing day!

Great Day with a local guide in Crete - Arrived on a Seabourne Cruise. There was a little confusion on where the ship tender would arrive, but Maria was able to find us with no problem. Her van held the 6 people in our party very comfortably. We had some nice homemade snacks. We got to see the beautiful view from the old fort outside the city, spent some time in a nice small village and had a great time at a local olive oil business. Our tour ended spending some time in Chania for some shopping. Maria really puts her heart into her business. It was so nice to see Crete with a local guide. Would highly recommend Maria to other travelers.

Loved everything Chania, Crete has to offer - If you're ever in Chania and looking for a guide, Maria is the one to go with! She was super punctual and made sure everything went smoothly from the start. Our group had some physical limitations, but Maria was really thoughtful, always suggesting places that were manageable for everyone. She made the experience personal, attentive to our needs, and had a great sense of where to take us without pushing anyone too hard. Plus, she was great at keeping us on schedule, ensuring we were back at the cruise terminal with plenty of time to spare. Overall, it was a really stress-free and enjoyable day, and I can’t recommend her enough!

Maria was excellent!!! Favorite day of our trip!!! Don’t miss this - This experience was excellent. We had Maria from imable tours booked through viator. She was absolutely amazing and the best tour guide I have ever had and I’ve gone on a lot of tours. This was a tailor-made tour so I gave Maria some ideas of what we were looking for and she came back with a perfect itinerary and suggestions. She packed homemade Creteon snacks for us. She was extremely knowledgeable, took us to all the right places at the right time and was able to pack in a lot in one day as we were on a ship which limited our time we did so many wonderful things and she made us all feel like family by the end of the day we all wanted to take her on the ship with us. Incredible and she was an excellent driver as well so nice doing private tours and being able to stay longer or stay shorter where you want and take an unexpected stop. You won’t regret this tour!!

Marvelous day with Maria!! - Maria is a gem! Her van is large and comfortable. The ramp works perfectly for wheelchairs or mobility scooters. She had water, soft drinks and snacks, including some wonderful homemade goodies her mom made.
We toured around the old port a bit and learned some history. We were there on a market day. It was amazing! Cheese, vegetables , fruits, flowers, honey, olives and olive oil. It was amazing.
We visited the old church in the city center, and that was interesting.
Next week drove up into the mountains and threw picturesque villages and stopped at a family run olive oil distillery. We learned the process from harvesting the olives through packaging. It was very interesting and we had a fine time. We were allowed to sample lots of great olive oil oils as well as some honey And a liquor.
We next went to a winery and we treated to a Five wine tasting for I believe €15 each and then we ordered a lovely lunch. Everything was homemade and one of the chefs came out to near where we were sitting to pick some fresh mint for one of the dishes she was preparing.
Everyone we encountered on our tour was very kind and made sure that we felt comfortable and had any questions answered, and we learned a lot.
Maria is her own operator and is self-employed, and is a delightful young woman. She has been operating her business since 2019 and you can see how caring she is. She is highly responsive regarding any questions and made excellent suggestions to us on how to fill our day based on our preferences.
