Historically strategic, a wall was erected here in ancient times (late 5th century BC) and remained until the Byzantine era (Hexamilion).

Metochi - Metochi is a quaint agricultural hamlet with a few homes. The parking area and jetty for passenger ferries and sea taxis are located east of Metochi. This is the nearest point accessible by car to Hydra before taking to the sea. From Metochi, travelers can reach Hydra via Hydra Line, with a 30-minute journey costing 7.50€ per person one way, or by private taxi boat, taking 20 minutes at a cost of 60€ per group one way.
On Hydra island, motor vehicles are prohibited, and all travel is on foot. Therefore, the driver cannot bring the car onto the island. However, the driver will accompany you to assist with your visit, offering guidance and sharing essential information to enhance your experience on the island. The driver’s ticket is included and will not incur additional costs for you. - Hydra Town - Hydra is a charming small island in the Saronic Gulf, just a short trip from Athens. It is renowned for its scenic architecture, lively nightlife, and cosmopolitan vibe. - Lazaros Koundouriotis Mansion (National Historical Museum) - This sophisticated stone mansion is an extension of the National Historical Museum. It displays relics from the Koundouriotis family, including weaponry, traditional attire, woodcarvings, paintings, and jewelry.
