• Meteora - Nestled between the majestic ranges of Pindos and Antiochasia lie the sacred rocks of Meteora and the city of Kalambaka. Due to its exceptional uniqueness, Meteora is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
  On the summits of these sandstone formations, 24 monasteries were constructed during the Christian era, perfectly blending with the natural surroundings. It stands as a significant monument of Orthodoxy, being the most important monastic community after Mount Athos, with a continuous tradition spanning approximately six centuries. The initial monasteries were crafted with remarkable skill in the 14th century. Over time, some have been reconstructed to achieve their current architectural form. Originally, ascent was achieved using scaffolding supported by beams embedded in the rocks, along with nets, and later ladders. Today, visitors can comfortably and safely reach the monasteries via stairs carved into the rocks.
