The hiking tour begins at St. Nicolas Monastery in Kastraki village, tracing the ancient paths once used by monks, which meander among the towering rock formations.
The route takes us beneath the ruins of the Pantocrator Monastery on the northern side of Dupiani rock. We then venture into the heart of the verdant forest, reaching the restored Monastery of “Ιpapanti” and the remnants of St. Dimitrios. A brief hike brings us to the monasteries of Varlaam and Great Meteoro, where we have the opportunity to visit one.
We return to Kastraki via the ancient path used by monks, passing by the cave of St. George Mandila.
During the hike, there is a chance to witness climbers scaling the rocks.
Please note: Meteora monasteries enforce a strict dress code. Women are required to wear a long skirt, dress, or sarong. Covering the knees with trousers or shorts is insufficient. However, wrap skirts are available at the monastery entrances for borrowing. Shoulders must also be covered.
