Varied activities & scenic views - A visit to these places s quite expensive; I'd suggest to stay n a nearby place & commute to the diff destinations since the train facilities r so efficient. Also for various sports activities...don't buy tickets prior to your travel as the weather s unpredictable. No refund will b done and each activity s expensive. The day you plan, start early and decide as there'll b long Q for every ride ( 1 to 2 hrs to buy a tkt). We stayed n Belp ( 2 min from the station) and reached Grindelwald and took a bus to pfisstage. First we went for Toboggan ride. Enjoyed. Next...Flyline which was closeby. This was also good. BTW no discounts n any of these though we had Swiss half fare pass. We climbed lil, had Roshti & coffee and reached the top by Gondola. The Gondola ride was really awesome. 3 stops from base to top. Excellent views from top, had beautiful clicks. Spent nearly 3 hrs. A simple train journey from 1 place to another n Swiss s so enjoyable. Another thing s that...if one books tkt for any ride online & if weather goes bad...any moment they stop & close. Better chk for the weather a day prior to your visit and plan accordingly. Excellent destination but very expensive too 😀

Fun and relaxing experience - Very nice, relaxing gondola ride with breathtaking views. Cliff walk was quite cloudy, but we still had a great time. The highlight of the experience was eating ice cream and looking at the Alps from restaurant terrace.

- Worth a visit if you are visiting the Interlaken area. I am from Canada. First is 10 or 20x of Mont-Tremblant based on the Luge, Zip line, Gondola, etc., but with Majestic Glacier and Cows on the Mountain/Mountain Cows :) at 2,000 meters altitude!!!, views.

Great experience- pick your arrival time wisely. - Must do in Grindelwald. Get there when it opens if you are in Grindelwald in July. It starts getting very crowded around 11:00 and the cliff walk is packed by then. The two extra rides you can do up top are very fun and exciting but were both over 1 hour waits and one was 2 hours. If you’ve never done these two get there early and get in line and do them first. We’ve been in early June and was much more relaxing. But , it’s still amazing. The short ( 1hr and 25 minute) round trip hike to the lake is worth it. Many great views and places to sit and enjoy Gods’s creation. We ate lunch up top at the restaurant and it was really good. The staff is very friendly and helpful.

Great experience but expensive - Cable car and trottie bikes family of five , £345!! We parked at the terminal car park first car park you see in Grindelwald, it cost €15 you pay on your return. You catch a free bus as long as you’ve got a car park ticket, buses run regularly, it takes you to the actual cable car station. Go inside if you’ve not got tickets - The price it’s so expensive!!! You pay for the cable car and an activity, we paid for just one activity. You chose which activity , there are four to choose from. We got there just after 9am and the flyers were already at 90 minutes, go carts were 120 mins. We had selected trottie bikes, best choice for us- no queue and it’s worth the money. It’s the longest experience and the track takes you back to grindelwald. If you’ve booked an activity combo ticket with the cable car,the cable car is unlimited. We enjoyed seeing the cows at the first and the cliff walk with the views. We did queue for a short time as it was early to get the photo off the mountain. There are four stops on the cable car, the first being the last stop for the cliff walk. It’s a great experience BUT expensive.

Crazy busy in peak season - Here’s the deal—this is cool, but very crowded. Most crowded thing we did in all of Grindelwald while staying there for a week in peak summer. It was cool, but so busy, which took away the fun.

Skip this - Everything in Switzerland is beautiful but if we were to recommend skipping anything we did this would be it. Even though we went early in the morning waited 2.5 hrs in line (sign said 90 minutes) for one ride - Ended up just leaving after that even though we had paid for two activities. The cliff walk is nice but takes maybe 5 minutes.

Spectacular scenery, disappointing experience - The Grindelwald First cable car offers a scenic 25-minute ascent with stops along the way. The alpine views at every level are undeniably beautiful, and for first-time visitors, the experience may seem thrilling. However, beauty alone does not make up for poor infrastructure and overwhelming crowds. Cable Cars: The gondolas, which seat six and operate continuously, are visibly worn. Cracked and clouded plastic panels distort the very views you’ve paid to enjoy. While one might overlook this on a first visit, the cars feel like second-hand imports, especially disappointing when compared with the newer, smoother rides from Grindelwald Terminal to Eigergletscher or Männlichen, run by the same company. Granted, capital equipment isn’t scrapped for cosmetic flaws, but at these prices, the overall quality feels mismatched with the cost. Stops and Activities Stop 1: Bort – Mainly a transfer point or a mountain cart stop for those descending from above. Stop 2: Schreckfeld o First Glider: Flies Schreckfeld–First–Schreckfeld. Either sold out or has wait times long enough to kill enthusiasm. o Mountain Carts: A fun downhill ride to Bort, though it takes 30–45 minutes at a cautious pace. Stop 3: First (Top Station) o First Flyer: Same problem as the Glider, crowds and capacity issues. o Cliff Walk by Tissot: Could be thrilling, but is often reduced to a jostling match with hurried tourists trying to shave two seconds off their selfie wait. o Hike to Bachalpsee: Around 1.5 hours one-way. Easily the most rewarding part of the experience, serene, panoramic, and worth the time if you can spare it. Restaurants: There’s one at Schreckfeld and another at the top. Both are overflowing in summer: expect long waits, no available seating and no semblance of service. Staff are overwhelmed. The atmosphere is closer to a chaotic cafeteria than a peaceful mountain retreat. If their website gives you any misguided notions about gently sipping a Pina Colada taking in the breathtaking mountains, forget it. Prices, predictably, are sky-high. Tip: Bring your own sandwiches and water. Find a quiet ridge along a trail and enjoy the same view without the frenzy. The place has its charms—if you can escape the crowds and ignore the aging infrastructure. Until you step off the gondola, it feels like Switzerland. Then, suddenly, it doesn’t.

Tourist trap and waste of time and money! - I highly recommend not doing any of the activities. The wait times are 2 hours plus they continuously sell tickets to everybody and don’t allow enough time to do all of the activities you purchase. They close down ride as sold out halfway through the day. It is 100% a tourist trap. Do not purchase the activities, its an absolute waste of money. The people helping are extremely unpleasant. I will never go back!

Aggressive Staff Conduct at Grindelwald First - Extremely distressing and unpleasant experience I had at Grindelwald First on 10th July 2025, specifically at the top station (last stop) of the gondola route. After finishing the activities at the top, we attempted to return using the gondolas. However, we noticed that the cabins coming down were completely overcrowded, with six people packed into each, leaving no space for others to board. We waited patiently for nearly 30 minutes, but no suitable gondola became available for descent. In an effort to find a solution, we decided to take a gondola going upward, thinking we could find a way down from the top station. However, upon arrival, we were met with unwarranted hostility and deeply disrespectful behavior from the staff. A bald female staff member and an older male staff member (who was checking passengers) began shouting, yelling, and verbally abusing us, creating an unnecessary and humiliating public scene. They even stopped the entire gondola system to scream at us to get out, despite us trying to explain the situation. There was absolutely no need for such aggressive and demeaning conduct. A simple, respectful request such as “Sir, please exit and wait in the line” would have sufficed. This kind of behavior is not only completely unprofessional, it is disgraceful, especially in a world-renowned tourist destination. Visitors come to Grindelwald expecting Swiss hospitality, not public humiliation. Tourist trap
