🔥 🌋 ACATENANGO OVERNIGHT WITH TREK GUATEMALA - ABSOLUTELY TOP TIER - This wasn’t just a hike… this was a full-blown, unforgettable experience. Trek Guatemala delivered something truly elite — from start to finish, everything was dialed in, organized, and executed like pros. The climb up Acatenango is no joke, but every step was worth it. The moment you reach basecamp and see Volcán de Fuego erupting in front of you — lava explosions lighting up the night sky — it’s surreal. One of the most insane views I’ve ever experienced. What really made this trip stand out? Our guides, Diego and Andrés. These guys are the real deal. Strong, patient, motivating, and genuinely passionate about what they do. They kept the group safe, supported everyone at their own pace, and still made it fun the entire way up. Their energy, knowledge, and attention to detail took this from a great hike to a world-class adventure. The setup at camp was on point — warm gear, hot food, everything you need after a tough climb. Waking up above the clouds for sunrise? Unreal. If you’re even thinking about doing Acatenango — book with Trek Guatemala. No question. Their groups are way smaller in size; 10-12 people. Totally worth the price compared to others. This is the kind of experience you talk about for years. Massive respect and gratitude to Diego and Andrés — you made this unforgettable. 🙌🔥

Fuego does not dissapoint - We had a great hike up the mountain. Our guide Jacob made it possible to do this difficult climb. The views of the volcano (and eruptions) were amazing. Hiking to the summit for the sunrise was also incredible. The hike is difficult. You need to be good shape to do the full hike. There are options available for ATV and automobile to take you most of the way also.

Unforgettable Experience - Unforgettable experience hiking Volcán de Fuego and Acatenango. It was physically challenging, but absolutely worth it. I booked a private guide, Guy, and couldn’t have asked for better support. He kept things positive and light when the hike got tough, which made a huge difference. Watching Fuego erupt above the clouds was surreal—and celebrating my 47th birthday up there made it even more special. Highly recommend this experience and especially going with Guy as your guide

Hiking Acantenango - My husband and I had a blast on the adventure of hiking to Acatenango. We had a very small group which made everything easier and more comfortable, compared to the other groups we saw. All meals were provided and were delicious. Our guide, Chris, was excellent and very experienced and knowledgeable on all local things. He was friendly and had great English and did everything he could to enhance our experience.

Wonderful experience hiking the volcano with Trek Guatemala! - We had a great time in our hike! It was hard, the elevation gain was intense coming from sea level but loved our guides and they helped us through it! Andres, Oscar, and Rodrigo were excellent at keeping us motivated and our spirits high. The food was quite good and the camp was perfectly situated to see the volcano eruptions at night. The summit sunrise was amazing! It was an exhausting hike but very beautiful and worth it. Next time we would try the glamping option as the tents were nice but a bit small for my husband who is 6’2”. I was also a little cold at night and wish I had brought a sleeping bag liner. Only do the add on hike if it’s a clear night. You can see plenty from the base camp and it’s a very tiring day to include the additional hike if it’s cloudy.

Great hike - My husband and I had a beautiful trek up Acatenango. Fuego was active. Our guide Luis was wonderful. The camp and staff at the top were great. Unfortunately the weather wasn’t great. Lots of clouds, and rain during the night and the second day. So views were only on the first day/evening.

Coolest experience ever! - We took a 4x4 up the volcano with Leo as our guide, hiking only about 2 miles to base camp and then summited Acatenango the next morning! It was truly an unforgettable experience with amazing guides, comfortable facilities, and great food! The 4x4 was a great option if you’re worried about the hard hike, while still having the chance to get steps in! Even just the views from the base camp were astounding… can’t wait to come back! Thanks Trek!

Smooth Experience - Very smooth and memorable experience, accommodating team to logistical requests, would use the service again. Mid-November was a great time to visit, with clear views of Fuego and barely any rain at the top! Sunrise on the way down was amazing. Crazy volcano views from the campsite!

Don't book on the weekend! and U don't need 5L water. Good experience - My wife and I went on the overnight hike with adventure camping with Trek Guatemala on December 14-15 2025 (sunday-monday). Overall we had a pretty nice experience, but I'm giving it 4/5 stars for a couple specific reasons. We paid extra for a private tour with a guide, and the advertisement said we would have a private trail. This is mostly untrue; the "private trail" is right next to the public trail, and it is only for the first mile or so of the entire hike. Most of the hike you're on the same trail as everyone else. We went up on Sunday. This was a mistake: there were literally hundreds of people on the trail on Sunday morning, such that the hike up we were amongst throngs of people the entire way. Monday our descent was a lot quieter. There were still >200 other people on the trail, but it was a fraction of the traffic on sunday. Trek Guatemala told us we had to hike up with 5 Liters of water each (so, 10 L total). We descended the mountain and finished the hike still carrying 6 L of un-drunk water. They make you hike with it (yet they do have vehicle transport of materials up the road on the backside of the mountain). You'll be fine with 3 L per person. These complaints notwithstanding, overall we had a great time, Fuego was amazing. We didn't get to see it as much as liked due to weather (clouds), but of course the weather is not Trek Guatemala's fault!

Fantastic guides, porters and staff within the camp, disappointing, poor value for money on this expensive tour. - The three stars are for the two excellent guides, particularly David, knowledgeable very good, paced the group, ensured all were looked after end, the other guide American/Canadian can’t recall also great, looked after my friend who was unwell. The lunch provided was less than adequate, we paid a lot of money for the trip, we were told that the lunch would be very nice, other groups who paid less had better lunches, we were given one sandwich, no other snacks or drinks. The evening meal was fine, but again, for what we paid, less than adequate. We had initially paid for glamping, but were then told that we had been undercharged and the option was refund or do the overnight camp, we had no choice as we didn’t have time to book another tour. I felt the female boss was more interested in money than satisfied customer
