• Museum of the Western Han Dynasty Mausoleum of the Nanyue King - At 8:30 am or 1:30 pm, the guide will collect you from your centrally located Guangzhou hotel to commence the tour. The first stop is the Museum of the Tomb of the Nanyue King from the Western Han Period. Here, you will explore the original tomb, discovered in 1983 during hotel construction. This tomb highlights Guangzhou’s extensive history, dating back 2,200 years. An exhibition hall showcases various relics unearthed from the tomb and around Guangzhou.
• Chen Clan Ancestral Hall-Folk Craft Museum - Next, you will take the metro to the Academy of Chen Clan, also known as The Chen Clan Ancestral Hall. Built in 1894 during the Qing Dynasty by 72 Chen clans, it served as accommodation and preparation space for juniors taking imperial examinations. The complex features traditional Canton architecture, renowned for its elaborate decorations on both the interior and exterior, including beams, ridges, walls, and columns. It houses an extensive collection of wood, stone, and brick carvings, as well as pottery, plaster, and iron engravings.
• Shamian Island - Afterwards, you will take the metro to Shamian Island to explore the area with European architectural influences, a former British and French colony from 100 years ago. You will also enjoy views of the White Swan Pool along the Pearl River from Shamian Island’s waterfront. The delightful half-day tour concludes at Shamian Island, where you can return to your hotel by taxi or metro.
• Yong Qing Fang - As a famous historic community in Guangzhou, Yong Qing Fang is an excellent place to stroll and admire the old buildings and lanes. This visit will be arranged as an alternative to the Museum of the Nanyue King Tomb or the Academy of Clan Chen if they are closed.

A wonderful way to delve into the history of Guangzhou is by using the public metro to visit cultural landmarks such as the Museum of the Tomb of the Nanyue King from the Western Han Period, the Chen Clan Academy, and Shamian Island, among others. Pickup from a centrally located hotel in Guangzhou is included.

Please note: The Museum of the Mausoleum of the Nanyue King is closed on Mondays, and the Chen Clan Academy is closed on Tuesdays. On these days, a visit to YongQingFang will be arranged instead. The Nanyue King Tomb has a daily visitor limit. While entry to the tomb site cannot be guaranteed, it can still be viewed from the upper level.
