- Tikal National Park - The tour guide will collect guests from their hotel, and after a 90-minute drive, they will arrive at Tikal National Park. Visitors will explore the main attractions and have the chance to climb some of the most significant structures. To fully appreciate the grandeur of this civilization, the guide will share the dynastic history of the city’s rulers and provide detailed descriptions of the structures and sights.
- Great Plaza - Much of this fascinating hike takes place under the tree canopy, offering protection from the sun while being observed by Spider and Howler monkeys and the numerous bird species inhabiting Tikal.
Twin Pyramid Complex Q will be one of the stops before reaching the Great Plaza, a unique commemorative complex in Tikal. This will be the first opportunity to climb a pyramid and see the first carved monument of the 29th king of the ruling dynasty.
After a brief walk through another Twin Pyramid Complex, visitors will reach an original causeway leading directly behind Tikal’s most iconic temple, The Great Jaguar Temple.
- Temple I - To gain a deeper understanding of their lifestyle, the tour takes a detour to explore the residential structures in the Central Acropolis, then moves to the North Acropolis, where most of the royal tombs were discovered. This journey leads to Temple I, the Great Jaguar Temple, situated in the heart of the Great Plaza.
- Temple II - Here, visitors are ideally positioned to capture the best photograph of the iconic Temple I, the mortuary temple of one of Tikal’s most significant rulers, Hasaw Chaan Kawil.
- Lost World - The guide will lead visitors to the plaza with the earliest evidence of occupation in Tikal, offering a chance to climb the Great Pyramid. The view from here is breathtaking, providing a 360-degree panorama over the tree canopy and the tallest structures nearby for stunning photographs. This is also the spot to wait for the sunset during a later tour. The Lost World Complex was crucial for the Mayas as it served as their Astronomical Observatory Complex.
- Temple IV - A major highlight of the tour is ascending one of the tallest single constructions in the western hemisphere. It is a privileged spot, as during the peak of this sophisticated city, only the ruler and the high priest were permitted this view. Now, it offers a clear sight over the tree canopy and the tips of Temples I, II, and III. This temple is also famously known as the Star Wars Temple because, in 1977, producer George Lucas included a scene from this very location in the movie Star Wars, Episode IV: A New Hope.
- Tikal National Park - After this remarkable experience, guests will descend through forest trails to the restaurant to enjoy a hot, delicious local dish and a refreshing cold drink of their choice.
- Flores - Following a satisfying lunch and cold beverage, guests will be driven back to their hotel in an air-conditioned vehicle, where they will likely enjoy a nap after an incredible day.
