Tikal holds two UNESCO titles, recognized as both cultural and natural heritage of humanity. We will spend over six hours exploring various archaeological monuments, using nature trails that offer a high chance of spotting wildlife.

• Temple IV - Our first stop is climbing this temple to witness the sunrise from the top, enjoying breathtaking views and the sounds of awakening wildlife, followed by breakfast.

The sunrise tour was developed to allow guests to experience Tikal in the early morning, appreciating wildlife at its most active, as well as at day’s end.

The tour’s highlight is the jungle awakening with the sounds of birds and howler monkeys. The sunrise is visible only 20% of the time due to frequent clouds or fog.

The official name of this temple is Temple of the Double Headed Serpent, named after a wooden carved lintel with the sacred double-headed serpent found during its discovery, now housed in a renowned museum.

This temple is nicknamed Temple of Star Wars because in 1977, director George Lucas filmed part of the original Star Wars Movie, Episode IV “A New Hope” here.

• North Acropolis - This complex served as a Royal Cemetery for Tikal’s kings and queens. It’s likened to an onion due to its multiple layers of fascinating architecture, some of which display masks of the rain god and the sun god.

The guide communicates effectively with all guests. During the tour, the guide accompanies you to climb the monuments, explaining key details while atop. We guide you to the best spots for photography at optimal times, ideal for photographers, and explore many Mayan structures.

• Great Plaza - The Great Plaza is the most energetic place in Tikal and the most restored complex of this Mayan site. It features multiple stelae, some with carvings depicting city kings.

This complex was excavated in the 1960s by the Museum of the University of Pennsylvania.

• Central Acropolis - We will explore this complex, built as the residential area for Tikal’s royal family. It has six courtyards, three of which have been restored. This complex likely hosted royal visitors from other Mesoamerican cities for diplomatic purposes.

It features a five-story palace, with some original wooden lintels on the doors still intact, placed by the builders about 14 centuries ago, and the wood remains in good condition.

• Temple II, Tikal, Guatemala - We will climb this temple to enjoy the best view of the Great Plaza, observing the masks carved atop this temple.

The view from this temple offers a great opportunity to photograph Temple I, North Acropolis, and the Great Plaza.

• Temple I - We will walk around Tikal’s most iconic monument, capturing photos from various angles.

The official name of this temple is Temple of the Great Jaguar, named after its original wooden lintel featuring a Great Jaguar carving, now displayed in a famous museum.

In the 1960s, archaeologists discovered the greatest treasure beneath this temple, the burial of Hasaw Chaan K’awil, Tikal’s most renowned king. The jewelry over the king’s skeleton included 16.5 pounds of jade jewels.

• Tikal National Park - The walking tour concludes at Gate 2 of Tikal National Park at 10:30 am, where we offer a hot meal and a cold drink at the Jaguar Inn Restaurant. After dining, you can explore the visitor center to see more wildlife, visit the scale model, or purchase souvenirs.

The activity concludes with a drop-off at your original pick-up location, or a different location if arranged in advance.

Embark on an exquisite tour visiting optimal locations for capturing photos of the monuments. We assure departure, even with only one guest without any additional charges. Our tour combines both, the breath-taking sunrise and archaeological exploration, allowing enough time and flexibility, ideal for photography enthusiasts.

We provide hassle-free entrance fees which are not incorporated in the initial cost due to the differing prices based on nationality and age. However, we offer advance payment for these, which can be reimbursed to our guide during the tour.

Our guide is proficient in both English and Spanish, has broad knowledge about the local history, plant and animal life, who emphasises on providing insightful information about each monument visited.

During the tour, we will cover a distance of approximately 6 to 8 kilometers, however, the journey will not be continuous. The longest duration between two stops will be roughly 20 minutes.
