Located in the Aragvi Valley near the Jinvali Reservoir on the Georgian Military Road, Ananuri Castle was constructed between 1660 and 1676 by the Dukes of Aragvi. It served as their residence and has witnessed numerous battles, with visible traces of warfare. The fortress comprises upper and lower castles; the upper castle is the main structure and is well-preserved, while the lower castle is largely in ruins.
