Elephant Trunk Hill (Xiangbishan) - Meet the tour guide in the lobby of your Guilin hotel, board your private air-conditioned vehicle, and begin your personalized tour of the city’s attractions. Discuss the historical highlights and sites you wish to visit with your knowledgeable guide, who will assist in planning an itinerary tailored to your interests. Then, set off to explore. Typically, the tour starts with Elephant Trunk Hill.

Elephant Trunk Hill is the iconic symbol of Guilin. It has been a renowned tourist destination since the Tang Dynasty (618 – 907). The hill resembles a giant elephant drinking water from the river.

Xiangbi Mountain Puxian Tower - Enjoy a brisk walk to the top and visit the Ming Dynasty (1368 – 1644) Puxian Tower, built to honor Samantabhadra. Learn about its history from your tour guide, then take in the panoramic views of the city, Li River, and surrounding scenery.

Yunfeng Temple - Continue to Yunfeng Temple, one of the famous ancient temples of Guilin. It was the residence of Monk Jianzhen, a prominent monk of the Tang Dynasty, who traveled to Japan six times to spread Buddhist teachings and help regulate monks’ conduct. Stroll around the temple and the exhibition gallery on the second floor.

Fubo Hill - Proceed to Guilin Fubo Hill. Fubo Hill stands beside the Li River and rises dramatically from the surrounding landscape. It is renowned for both its natural beauty and historic art.

Follow your tour guide to explore Buddha etchings dating back to the Song and Tang Dynasties (618 - 1279) at Thousand-Buddha Cave and Pearl-Returning Cave. Admire the Sword-Testing Rock and learn the legendary stories behind it.

Reed Flute Cave (Ludi Yan) - Next, head to Reed Flute Cave. Over millions of years, dripping water has sculpted the cave into a unique world of various stalactites, stone pillars, and rock formations. Explore key spots in the attraction such as Tower-shaped Pine and Crystal Palace. Despite the fantastic natural scenery inside Reed Flute Cave, there are many writings on the wall. There are 77 travelogues and poems left, originating from the Tang Dynasty (618-907).

Then, enjoy lunch at a local restaurant.

Seven Star Park (Qixing Gongyuan) - In the afternoon, stroll around Seven Stars Park. The Seven Stars Park is blessed with elegant mountains, clear water, a miraculous stone forest, deep and serene valleys, abundant animals and plants, and valuable cultural relics. It has been popular since the Sui (581-618) and Tang (618-907) Dynasties.

Cross the Flower Bridge, built in the Song Dynasty (960-1279), and it is the oldest bridge in Guilin. The tour lasts about 8 hours, and if time permits, you can explore Putuo Mountain, where Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva is worshiped. It is rich with caves and pavilions. At the top of the mountain, there are Putuo Stone Forest, Xuanwu Pavilion, and Zhaixing Pavilion. Additionally, there are numerous valuable tablets on the mountain. You can choose how far you wish to go.

After the tour concludes, you will be transferred back to your hotel in Guilin.

Guilin-Yangshuo (L)

Li River - Important Notes: The package includes either a 3-star or 4-star cruise ticket (you can choose as needed); please note that you will take the cruise independently, and your English-speaking guide will meet you in Yangshuo. For the 3-star cruise, each passenger will receive a boxed lunch; for the 4-star cruise, a delicious buffet lunch is included.

Gui Lin Zhujiang Pier - Along the river, enjoy breathtaking views of peaks and pinnacles, crystal-clear water, and picturesque pastoral countryside scenery. The river generally has three sections. Various attractions like peaks and villages along the river have interesting descriptive names, which require much of your imagination to see what they resemble. Listening to the tour guide’s legendary stories about the attractions is a delightful experience while appreciating the landscapes. Most are mystical fairy and love stories. The cruise usually takes around 3.5 to 4 hours, depending on water conditions.

Xingping Fishing Village - Li River takes a significant turn at Xingping, offering beautiful and poetic scenery. It has been depicted in many Chinese landscape paintings. Even the newly-issued 20 RMB note features the scenery on its back. A photographer once said: ‘Shots from any perspective of this place turn out to be impressive and stunning’.

You will enjoy a simple lunch on the boat.

West Street - Arrive in Yangshuo at 1:30 pm, stroll around West Street with your tour guide, explore various shops, craft shops, painting and calligraphy stores, backpack shops, and cafes. Your tour guide will assist in negotiating prices if you wish to purchase any souvenirs.

Shili Hualang - In the afternoon, explore the Ten-Mile Gallery in Yangshuo.

Strolling down a country road makes you feel like you are traveling in a painting. This is true of the Ten-Mile Gallery in Yangshuo County, a fairyland on earth. As the name implies, Ten-Mile Gallery is a picturesque road stretching from the Yangshuo town area to Moon Hill, featuring rolling hills, endless fields, idyllic villages, and clear rivers on both sides.

Moon Hill - Yangshuo is famous for its beautiful and peaceful countryside scenery. You can discuss with your tour guide what kind of views you would like to see, and they will provide suggestions. You can also rent a bicycle at your own cost and ride through the countryside. Explore the countryside view and stop for photos. Your last stop is Moon Hill; let your tour guide know if you want to stop to take photos. After the tour, you can choose to end your tour in Yangshuo or return to Guilin.
