Xianggong Mountain - At 9:00 am, the driver and guide will greet you at your Guilin or Yangshuo hotel and transfer you to Xianggong Hill in Yangshuo. The drive from Yangshuo hotel takes 40 minutes, while from Guilin hotel it takes 1.5 hours. Initially, Xianggong Mountain was an unremarkable karst hill on the west bank of the Li River in Yangshuo County, Guilin. It gained fame when a local photographer captured award-winning images from its summit, making it a sought-after destination for photography enthusiasts.
Yulong River - Following the visit to Xianggong Hill, you will be transferred to the Yulong River in Yangshuo for a bamboo boat ride. The Yulong River, with its stunning karst scenery, tranquil waters, and historic bridges, is ideal for bamboo rafting. Often referred to as ‘the Little Li River’, it is a tributary of the Li River.
West Street - Next, enjoy lunch in the West Street area. This is the oldest street in Yangshuo, with a history spanning over 1,400 years. Located in the heart of Yangshuo County, since the 1980s, it has become a cultural hub blending Eastern and Western influences and is China’s largest ‘foreign language center’. Each year, around 100,000 international visitors come here for travel or advanced studies, drawn by its unique cultural fusion.
Impression Sanjie Liu - At 6:40 pm, the driver and guide will meet you in the West Street area to take you to the Impression Sanjie Liu Light Show. It’s recommended to have dinner before the show, as you will be dropped off at your hotel directly afterward. (Advance booking for show tickets is available.) Unlike other shows held indoors, the Impression of Liu Sanjie is performed on the Li River, stretching 2 km (1.25 miles). The mist, moonlight, and 12 karst peaks with their reflections create a breathtaking natural backdrop. The large-scale lighting, special smoke effects, and powerful sound system harmonize with the natural landscape, offering a visual spectacle.
Guilin–Longji Rice Terrace. Overnight in Ping’an or Dazhai village.
Reed Flute Cave (Ludi Yan) - At 9:00 am, the driver and guide will meet you in your hotel lobby. Please check out and bring all your luggage. The first stop is the Guilin Reed Flute Cave. Known as “the Palace of Natural Arts,” this limestone cave with multicolored lighting has been a major attraction in Guilin for over 1,200 years. It is over 180 million years old.
Dragon’s Backbone Rice Terraces - Next, you will be transferred to the Longji Rice Terraces area, a 2-hour drive from Guilin, covering 100 km. The Longji Rice Terraces, or Dragon’s Backbone Rice Terraces, are named for their resemblance to dragon scales and the mountain range’s dragon-like backbone. They are considered among the world’s most beautiful rice terraces.
Located in Longsheng County, about 80 kilometers (50 miles) from Guilin and 140 kilometers (90 miles) from Yangshuo, the terraces’ construction began in the Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368) and continued until the early Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). Now, the Dragon’s Backbone Rice Terraces cover 66 square kilometers (about 16,308 acres) and range in altitude from 300 meters (about 984 feet) to 1,100 meters (about 3,608 feet). The main viewing areas are the Ping’an Zhuang Village Terraced Fields and the Jinkeng Terraced Fields, home to the Zhuang and Yao Minority people for centuries. Visitors can enjoy the terraces and learn about the unique customs in the Longsheng rice terraces scenic area.
Ping’an Village - After visiting the Longji Rice Terraces, you will check into a hotel in Ping’an village or Dazhai village for an overnight stay.

You may also explore traditional Dong homes, meet a carpenter’s family, savor local dishes, and learn about the ancient customs of the Dong people.
Zhaoxing DongZhai - After visiting Chengyang village, you will drive to Liping Zhaoxing Dong village (Guizhou province), a 1.5-hour drive via the highway. The Zhaoxing Dong Village, located in Liping County, southeast of Guizhou Province, is one of the largest Dong Villages in the Qiandongnan area of Guizhou. Entering Zhaoxing Dong Village feels like stepping back in time. All the buildings are wooden-stilt houses, creating a picturesque village with beautiful natural sights and a unique ethnic flavor. It is surrounded by lush mountains with a crystal-clear stream running through.
Zhaoxing–Basha–Congjiang–Kaili. Overnight in Kaili.
Xiaohuang Village - Afterward, you will transfer to Yintan Dong village, similar to Xiaohuang village. Yintan Dong village, about twenty kilometers from Congjiang, is a representative Dong village in Guizhou, known for its Dong architecture and daily life. Although the houses are relatively recent (50-100 years old), they adhere to Dong building traditions. The village’s natural environment, houses, drum towers, and pavilions are distinct from those in the West. The village’s drum tower stands 21 feet high in the center. Wherever you are, you cannot miss the center of Yintan. Visitors feel immersed in time amidst well-preserved buildings.

Upon arrival, you will partake in the “block-the-way” wine tradition, a local custom for welcoming guests. Twelve tables are set along the path from the highroad to the village gate. Then, visit traditional Miao-style stilt houses and enjoy sweet Miao folk songs. Afterward, take a leisurely walk on the cobblestone or bluestone-paved roads and courtyards.

Zhangjiajie National Forest Park is home to over 500 species of wildlife and vegetation, including rare monkeys, gingko trees, and thousands of colorful birds. The park’s most notable geographic features are its towering sandstone pillars. Fans of Hollywood blockbusters will recognize the stunning landscape as the inspiration for Pandora in James Cameron’s movie Avatar.
An English-speaking guide will accompany you to share insights into the incredible natural beauty, and a private driver will ensure a smooth and comfortable ride between your hotel and the park.
Wulingyuan Scenic and Historic Interest Area of Zhangjiajie - Wulingyuan Scenic and Historic Interest Area, located north of Zhangjiajie City, is a captivating tourist attraction. It is one of China’s 40 famous scenic spots and was added to the ‘World Heritage List’ in 1992.
The Wulingyuan Scenic and Historic Interest Area boasts natural beauty where mountains, valleys, forests, caves, lakes, and waterfalls exist in harmony. Over 560 attraction sights can be found here. The uniquely-shaped peaks, peculiar stones, hidden valleys, wonderful waters, and limestone caves form the ‘Five Wonders’ of Wulingyuan, which are truly worth seeing.
Covering an area of 690 square kilometers (266 square miles), Wulingyuan Scenic Area consists of four parts: Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, Suoxi Valley Nature Reserve, Tianzi Mountain Nature Reserve, and the newly added Yangjiajie Scenic Area.
Today, the tour will visit the Zhangjiajie National Forest Park and Tianzi Mountain Nature Reserve area.
Tianzi Mountain - After purchasing the main park entrance tickets, you will take a shuttle bus (20 minutes drive) to the Tianzi Mountain cable station and walk up 200 steps to reach the station.
Tianzi Mountain Clouds - After a 20-minute cable car ride, you will reach the top of Tianzi Mountain and take another shuttle bus (5 minutes drive) to the Tianzi Mountain central area, offering stunning views of peaks rising one after another. It is known as ‘the Monarch of the Peak Forest’. At the top, visitors can see the full extent of the Wulingyuan Scenic Area. Beautiful scenes greet visitors in different seasons, with four wonders: the Sea of Clouds, the Radiance of the Moonlight, Rays of Sunshine, and Snow in winter.
WulongZhai - This is a highlighted scenic spot in Yangjiajie. One platform and three gates must be passed before reaching the top of the stockaded village. There are three peaks at the top, offering views of the scenery near and far. This stockaded village is strategically positioned, making it easy to defend and difficult to conquer, and has been a stronghold for bandits.
Zhangjiajie Tianbofu Scenic Resort - Located in Yangjiajie Scenic Area, Zhangjiajie Tianbofu Scenic Reserve is a magnificent and charming reserve with steep and angular cliffs. The fantastic scenes are hidden among the stone mountains and cliffs. Visiting here by walking on the stone path along the steep cliffs is both exciting and adventurous.
BaiLong Elevator - After visiting Yuanjiajie (Avatar mountain), you will take a shuttle (15 minutes drive) to the Bailong Elevator. The Bailong Elevator is impressive, with a total height of 335 meters (1,099 feet), of which 326 meters (1,069 feet) is the running height. 154 meters (505 feet) of the total height is in the mountain wells, and the remaining 172 meters (564 feet) consists of steel derrick and other components. The elevator includes three exposed sightseeing elevators running parallel. Each elevator can carry 50 passengers at a speed of 3 m/s (accelerated to 5 m/s since 2013). If all three elevators run simultaneously, they can transport 4,000 passengers per hour.
Golden Whip Brook - Golden Whip Stream (Jinbian Stream) is renowned for its pristine water, verdant mountains, steep cliffs, and serene valley. As a “paradise” for plants, its pathways are adorned with an abundance of flowers, trees, and grasses. It is also a kingdom of animals. Golden Whip Stream is named after Golden Whip Crag, its landmark spot, and runs from Laomo Bay to Shui Rao Si Men (water-surrounded gates). You will hike for about an hour along the Golden Whip Stream, then take a shuttle out of the park and back to the hotel.
Zhangjiajie Glass Bridge - After visiting the National Park, you will head to the Zhangjiajie Glass Bridge area, but there will be no time to visit the Grand Canyon. Zhangjiajie Glass Bridge, also known as Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon skywalk, is the world’s longest and highest glass bridge, hanging over Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon. From a distance, it looks like a piece of white silk floating between the clouds and fog, hence it is also called Yuntiandu, meaning “a way of clouds to the sky”. Standing on it, if you dare, you can have a bird’s eye view of the Grand Canyon.
Tianmen Mountain. The tour ends.
Tianmen Mountain National Forest Park - Discover the sacred and mysterious Tianmen Mountain with the help of a local guide on this private, full-day tour from Zhangjiajie. Ride the world’s longest cable car to visit Tianmen Mountain Temple and marvel at the spectacular Tianmen Cave.
Among Zhangjiajie’s many scenic spots, Tianmen Mountain stands out. On this private, full-day tour, you will experience a thrilling ride to the top of Tianmen Mountain on the world’s longest cable car – nearly 4.5 miles long.
Pass over farmers’ fields as you ascend the mountainside into the thick clouds above. At the top of Tianmen Mountain, you’ll find the Yunmeng Fairy Summit, offering captivating views – when not obscured by otherworldly clouds and mist.
Located on the mountain’s summit, Tianmen Mountain Temple has been a pilgrimage site since the Ming Dynasty and is the Buddhist center of western Hunan. The mountain is also home to rare plant species, but it is most famous for the rare and marvelous geological formation of Tianmen Cave. Embedded in the towering cliff, this natural wonder has attracted emperors, hermits, dignitaries, and daredevils for centuries. Its exact origin still lacks a convincing scientific explanation.
If you have a late flight on this day (later than 6:00 pm), after the mountain tour, the driver can drop you off at the airport, or you can be dropped off at the Zhangjiajie hotel and find your own way to the airport/train station the next day.
