- Elephant Trunk Hill (Xiangbishan) - Situated on the west bank of the Li River, Elephant Trunk Hill is named for its resemblance to a giant elephant dipping its trunk into the river. The hill stands 55 meters tall, stretches 108 meters long, and spans 100 meters wide, with an elevation of 200 meters above sea level. It is considered the emblem of Guilin City. Between the elephant’s trunk and legs lies a large, bright cave known as Shuiyue (Water & Moon) Cave. Under moonlight, the cave’s reflection resembles a moon in the river, creating the illusion of two moons. Beyond Shuiyue Cave, a path leads to a cave through the hill, resembling an elephant’s eye, hence the name Elephant’s Eye Rock. Atop the hill is the Puxian (Samantabhadra) Pagoda, constructed during the Ming Dynasty. From a distance, the pagoda resembles a sword handle or a vase, earning it the names Jianbing (Sword Handle) Pagoda or Baoping (Vase) Pagoda.
- Fubo Hill - Named after General Fubo of the Han dynasty, Fubo Hill overlooks Guilin city. It measures 120 meters in length, 60 meters in width, and rises to 213 meters in height. Located on the west bank of the Li River, it is partially submerged yet gracefully towers over the river. The hill features stairs leading to the summit. Midway up, a small pavilion offers views of the surrounding neighborhoods. At the top, another pavilion, originally built during the Tang Dynasty, provides a breathtaking view of the city, the Li River, and the surrounding mountains. At the base of Fubo Hill is Pearl Returning Cave, where a boat ride through its green waters reveals unique Buddha paintings and rock formations. Additionally, the Thousand Buddha Cave, spanning 133 square meters, houses over 239 Buddha statues across three tiers, hidden within Fubo Hill.
- Seven Star Park (Qixing Gongyuan) - Spanning over 120 hectares, Seven Stars Park is the largest and most frequented park in Guilin. Its name derives from the four peaks on Putuo Hill and three peaks on Crescent Hill, mirroring the seven stars of the Ursa Major constellation. The park boasts stunning mountains, clear waters, steep stone peaks, and deep caves. Key attractions include Floral Bridge, Putuo Mountain, Seven Stars Rock, Camel Peak, Yueya Mountain, Longyin Cave, and Guihai Forest of Steles. Floral Bridge is the oldest bridge in Guilin. Camel Hill, another park highlight, is a limestone formation resembling a camel. Seven Star Cave, located within Putuo Hill, is renowned for its magnificent stalactite formations, maintaining a constant temperature of 20°C year-round.
- Mosque - The Guilin Chongshan Road Mosque, established in 1735 during Emperor Yongzheng’s reign, expanded in 1849 during Emperor Jiaqing’s reign, and renovated during Emperor Daoguang’s reign (1821-1850) and the Republic of China (1912-1949), covers 2000 square meters. It is the best-preserved and largest mosque in Guilin, recognized as a significant historic and cultural site. In 1982, the President of Pakistan visited the mosque for Jumah prayer, gifting a complete set of Koran cassettes and recorders, and planting four Tasong trees at the entrance to symbolize enduring friendship between Muslims and the people of China and Pakistan.
- Jingjiang Royal Residence - Enclosed by a grand wall with large gates, Jingjiang Prince’s City served as the official residence of Prince Jingjiang of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). It is a smaller version of the Forbidden City. Zhu Shouqian, appointed as the Jingjiang King by his grandfather, the first emperor of the Ming Dynasty, completed it in 1392, adhering to the design for all kings. The main structures include Chengyuan Gate at the front, Chengyun Hall in the center, with the living hall behind and the royal garden at the end. Fourteen kings from twelve generations resided here. Despite being burned down several times over its 600-year history, it remains the best-preserved Prince City in China. Notably, the carved balustrades and marble steps are still intact. Today, Guangxi Normal University occupies the site, which remains open to the public as a popular tourist attraction showcasing Guilin’s natural beauty, history, traditional architecture, and local culture.
- Solitary Beauty Peak - Solitary Beauty Peak stands gracefully at the center of the ancient Mansion of Prince Jingjiang, a noble family from the Ming Dynasty. Rising to an elevation of 216 meters, it is known as the Sky-Supporting Pillar in the South. During the Southern Dynasty (420-589), approximately 1500 years ago, Yan Yanzhi, governor of Guilin, wrote that none could surpass this solitary peak in beauty, giving it its name. At the base of the peak are Dushu (Study) Rock, Taiping (Peace) Rock, and Yueya (Crescent) Pond. The eastern side of the hill features numerous Qing dynasty inscriptions, such as Southern Sky-Supporting Pillar and Purple Gown and Golden Belt. A flight of 396 stone steps leads from the west foot of the hill to the top, offering a panoramic view of the city and surrounding mountains.
- Guilin Two Rivers and Four Lakes Resort - The Two Rivers and Four Lakes scenic area is a connected water system in downtown Guilin. As the name implies, it comprises two rivers and four lakes. The rivers are the Li River and Taohua (Peach Blossom) River, while the lakes are Rong (Banyan Tree) Lake, Shan (Chinese Fir) Lake, Gui (Osmanthus Tree) Lake, and Mulong (Wooden Dragon) Lake. These bodies of water form Guilin’s central round-the-city water system, making the city resemble a grand, beautiful park. The Ancient South Gate of Guilin stands by Rong Lake, with two identical arched marble bridges in front of it. In total, 19 uniquely styled bridges connect the two rivers and four lakes, surrounded by pavilions, statues, and stone carvings. At night, the lamplights reflecting on the pristine water create a harmonious blend of nature and human artistry.
