Tashichho Dzong (Thimphu Dzong) - Since 1952, Tashichho Dzong has served as the seat of the government. It currently houses the throne room and offices of the king, the secretariat, and the ministries of home affairs and finance. Other government departments are situated in nearby buildings.
Punakha
Chimi Lhakhang Temple - Also known as Chime Lhakhang, this Buddhist monastery in Punakha District, Bhutan, is located near Lobesa on a round hillock. Built in 1499 by the 14th Drukpa hierarch, Ngawang Choegyel, it was blessed by the “Divine Madman,” the maverick saint Drukpa Kunley (1455–1529), who constructed a chorten on the site.
Punakha Dzong - Known as Pungtang Dewa chhenbi Phodrang, the Punakha Dzong is the administrative center of Punakha District in Bhutan. Built by Ngawang Namgyal, the 1st Zhabdrung Rinpoche, in 1637–38, it is the second oldest and second largest dzong in Bhutan, renowned for its majestic architecture.
Dochula Pass - Situated in the snow-covered Himalayas within Bhutan, the Dochula Pass is a mountain pass on the road from Thimphu to Punakha. It features 108 memorial chortens or stupas, known as “Druk Wangyal Chortens,” built by Ashi Dorji Wangmo Wangchuk, the eldest Queen Mother.

Phobjikha Valley
Gangtey Monastery - Established in 1613 by the first Peling Gyalsé Rinpoche or Gangteng Tulku, Rigdzin Pema Tinley (1564–1642), the Gangteng Monastery, also known as Gangteng Sangngak Chöling, was founded by the grandson of the great Bhutanese “treasure revealer” Terchen Pema Lingpa (1450–1521).
Phobjikha Valley - Known as Gangteng Valley, the Phobjikha Valley is a vast U-shaped glacial valley in central Bhutan. It is named after the impressive Gangteng Monastery of the Nyingma sect and is a winter roosting site for the graceful black-necked cranes migrating from the Tibetan Plateau.

Paro River - The Paro Chhu is a river in western Bhutan, serving as a tributary of the Wong Chhu, which is referred to as the Raidak in its lower reaches.
Rinpung Dzong - A large dzong, or Buddhist monastery and fortress, of the Drukpa Lineage of the Kagyu school, Rinpung Dzong is located in Paro District, Bhutan. It houses the district Monastic Body and government administrative offices of Paro Dzongkhag and is listed as a tentative site for UNESCO inclusion in Bhutan’s Tentative List.
National Museum - Situated in the town of Paro in western Bhutan, the National Museum of Bhutan is a cultural museum established in 1968. It is housed in the renovated ancient Ta-dzong building above Rinpung Dzong, under the command of His Majesty, King Jigme Dorji Wangchuck, the third hereditary Monarch of Bhutan.
