• Rocinha - After meeting with the Tour Guide, there will be a short initial talk about how the tour works, answering questions and ground rules. After this, the tourists will take an educational sightseeing walking tour all the way down, with OPTIONAL places for Souvenir shopping (that serves as donations to the Favela), Lunch at a local family restaurant and lots of beautiful places for pictures.

This tour is led by a guide who was born and raised in Rocinha and has spent over ten years exploring these streets with visitors. The emphasis is not on access for novelty’s sake, but on providing context.

Rather than following a scripted itinerary or using dramatic storytelling, the tour highlights how the favela truly functions: its structure, daily life, social interactions, and history as a vibrant community. The path is determined by local relevance, driven by genuine familiarity rather than performance.

As a locally guided, small-group experience, the tour progresses at a comfortable pace. Questions are encouraged, discussions are open, and insights are shared from personal experience, not from second-hand research or rehearsed scripts.

This tour does not aim to sell danger, poverty, or spectacle. It is about gaining an understanding of Rocinha as it truly is, led by someone who is a part of this community.
