Perched on the steep Gopachal hill, Gurjari Mahal was built by Raja Man Singh for his Gurjari wife, Mrigyanayani, and now serves as a museum showcasing Jain and Hindu artifacts. Man Mandir, also built by Raja Man Singh, features exquisite wall art. Other notable structures include Hathipol, Teli ka Mandir, Sas Bahu ka Mandir, Garuda Monument, Karan Mahal, Vikram Mahal, and a splendid Sikh temple honoring the sixth Sikh guru, Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib.
- Jai Vilas Palace - Following the Gwalior Fort tour, visit the Jai Vilas Palace, constructed in 1874 by Jivajirao Scindia. The descendants of the royal maharajas still reside here, with part of the palace transformed into a public museum. This grand palace boasts over 400 rooms, with significant galleries displaying various exhibits. The Durbar Hall features a miniature silver train on the dining table for serving royal guests, and another highlight is the sculpture of a hansa and a lady. Note that the museum is closed on Mondays.
- Sun Temple - Among Gwalior’s most spectacular temples, the Sun Temple is dedicated to the revered Sun God. Built in 1988 by renowned industrialist G.D. Birla, the temple’s marble interior creates a tranquil atmosphere. The most striking feature is the red sandstone exterior, contrasting beautifully with the lush green gardens surrounding the temple.
