Bulguksa Temple - Bulguksa Temple is a significant relic of Buddhist culture from the Silla kingdom. Constructed during the 15th year of King Beopheung’s reign (514-540) to wish for peace and prosperity for all.
Since 1920, the temple has undergone continuous restoration. It now houses seven national treasures and numerous other important heritages, and was designated a World Cultural Heritage Site along with the nearby Seokguram Grotto by UNESCO in December 1995. It is also ideal for a maple leaves tour. - Woljeonggyo Bridge - Located in Gyo-dong, Gyeongju, Woljeonggyo Bridge was originally built during the Unified Silla period (AD 676-935) but was destroyed during the Joseon dynasty. Reconstructed in April 2018 through historical research, it is now the largest wooden bridge in Korea.
- Daereungwon Tomb Complex - Believed to have been built between the late 5th and early 6th centuries, artifacts from the tomb include a gold crown, gold cap, gold waist belt, gold diadem, and gilt-bronze shoes. The gold crown is particularly notable as the largest and most elaborate of all gold crowns found in Korea.
- Hwangnidan-gil - This street is lined with numerous restaurants, cafes, photo studios, and shops in traditional hanok buildings, making it popular among younger generations in Korea. It also showcases newtro aesthetics with its old and worn buildings from the 1960s and ‘70s.
- Gyeongju Gyochon Traditional Village - Similar to the Yangdong Folk Village, Gyeongju Gyochon Village is another traditional village of old hanok houses, offering a glimpse into life during the Joseon period. A notable site here is the Gyeongju Hyanggyo, a Confucian academy and shrine, where Korea’s first state-operated educational institute “Gukhak” was established in 682.
- Cheomseongdae Observatory - Cheomseongdae Observatory is believed to have been constructed during the reign of Queen Seondeok (r. 632-647) of the Silla Dynasty for observing celestial movements. It is the oldest astronomical observatory in Asia and is considered a valuable cultural heritage that illustrates the technological advancement of that era.
- Donggung Palace And Wolji Pond - Located in Gyeongju, Donggung Palace and Wolji Pond are secondary palace sites of Silla. The palace, along with other secondary palaces, served as the eastern palace where the prince resided, and banquets were held during auspicious events or to welcome important guests.
- Yangdong Folk Village - [Optional] Gyeongju Yangdong Village is Korea’s largest traditional village, showcasing the traditional culture of the Joseon dynasty and its beautiful natural surroundings. With its many cultural heritages, including treasures, national treasures, and folklore materials, the entire village has been designated a cultural heritage site. Many visitors, including King Charles III in 1993, have come to see its rich cultural heritages and scenic surroundings.
Seolchangsan Mountain and its four mountain spines can be seen beyond the village. Approximately 160 old houses and 500-year-old thatched-roof cottages are nestled within the valley. Fifty-four of these homes are over 200 years old and have been excellently preserved in their original state, offering the opportunity to view a variety of unique traditional Korean houses in person.
