The Mary Valley Rattler stands as one of Queensland’s most iconic heritage steam train experiences, showcasing the Gympie region’s rich history while providing visitors with a modern tourism attraction and the stunning scenery of the Mary Valley landscape.

This 3-hour, 40km journey aboard a beautifully restored C17 steam train offers a unique and memorable experience. Departing from the Historic Gympie Station, passengers travel through lush agricultural farmland into the heart of the picturesque Mary Valley.

Upon arrival in the charming town of Amamoor, passengers can disembark and head to a viewing area to watch the train engine turn on the turntable. Enjoy a brief stay to explore the Amamoor Village Green before reboarding the assigned carriage for the return trip to Gympie Station.

On board, volunteer guides share a wealth of historical information about the trains and the region, allowing passengers to enjoy the views and the nostalgia of travel from a bygone era.
