The highlight of our trip in Iceland - I can't rave about this business enough. My family and I feel this experience was truly the highlight of our Iceland trip. The stables are easy to get to from Reykjavik by car, they are well-kept and the staff genuinely enjoys working there. The joy of being around the horses was palpable. Our guide was knowledgeable and professional, handling our family's mixed bag of riding experience capably and smoothly. The landscape on the ride was breathtaking, the horses were well behaved and paired with the right riders. We honestly feel we made friends for life here during our short stay, and plan to return every time we visit Iceland.

Enjoyable and Lovely Horse Ride - We were on a recent cruise to Iceland, and had the opportunity to go horseback riding at the Ishestar Riding Center outside of Reykjavik. Upon arrival, we watched a brief film, put on our helmets and rain jackets, and then were matched to our horses.
We then had a scenic one hour or more ride going through some massive lava fields on the property.
The horses are very calm and content, and walk in a single file, although every once in a while they will stop and try to grab a mouthful of plants to munch upon.
It is fun to adjust to the rhythm of the ride, control the reins, keep one's seat, and peruse all the interesting landscapes.
Staff from the riding center went with us to manage the group and ensure all went well.
It has always been a dream of mine to ride the lovely horses of Iceland, and I was very happy to finally have this wonderful experience!

Horseback riding - “We love the experience! The whole team was extremely collaborative and attentive, especially with our group, made up of people with no experience in horseback riding.

Great horse riding experience. - Fantastic riding tour and loved the fact that they split the group based on experience levels.
They gave tips on how to improve our riding along the way, which even helped for experienced riders as Icelandic horses have a unique gait.

Tolting through Iceland - Can't recommend this experience enough! I was picked up right at my hotel, and upon arrival the Riding Centre is extremely comfortable and welcoming. They do a great job matching up the horses with the riders, and unlike other rides I've been on, they split the group into a walk-only group and the group of more experienced riders, so you get a chance to trot and tolt! The landscape is beautiful, and they took some amazing pictures of all the riders. The horses are happy and well cared for, and after the ride you get a chance to hang out in the paddock with them.

A bit boring - I did the beginners tour. It was with a lot of riders so no changing pace, keeping all horses one after the other and going at walking speed. Correct that, I walk faster than the horse… I got bored after 5 minutes and it took another 50 minutes to get back. Friendly guides, but boring tour.
