- Haghpat Monastery - The first stop after crossing the border is Haghpat Monastery, located about 40 minutes away. This UNESCO-listed complex, built between the 10th and 13th centuries, served as a significant spiritual and educational center, where hundreds of monks lived and studied. It is renowned for its impressive medieval architecture and tranquil setting above the Debed Canyon.
- Sanahin - The second stop is Sanahin. On the way, guests will drive through the Soviet-era mining town of Alaverdi. A short stop can be made to take photos from a viewpoint where the town is clearly visible, if desired.
In about 15 minutes, guests will reach Sanahin Monastery, dating back to the 10th century, where they will spend around 30 minutes exploring. Following this, a brief drive will lead to the Mikoyan Museum, where visitors can see a real Soviet MiG fighter jet designed by the Armenian Mikoyan brothers and take photos with it.
- Akhtala Monastery - The next stop is Akhtala Monastery, located about 30 minutes away. Built in the 13th century, it is celebrated for its unique and well-preserved frescoes covering the interior walls of the church. The artwork reflects a blend of Byzantine, Georgian, and Greek influences, making it one of the most distinctive religious sites in the region.
The monastery is situated on a hill surrounded by fortress walls, offering beautiful views of the surrounding landscape. Guests will have around 45 minutes to explore the site, take photos, and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere.
Guests can also have lunch during the tour — simply inform the guide in advance, and they will arrange a suitable restaurant along the way.
