- West Lake (Xi Hu) - West Lake, also known as Xihu, is a freshwater lake located in Hangzhou, China. Positioned to the west of the former walled city of Hangzhou, the lake covers an area of 6.39 km² (2.47 sq mi), extending 3.2 km (2.0 mi) from north to south and 2.8 km (1.7 mi) from east to west. The lake features four causeways, three man-made islands, and Gushan, the sole natural island. The lake is encircled by gentle hills on the north, west, and south sides, with the Leifeng and Baochu pagodas standing on the south and north banks, respectively. Renowned temples, such as Lingyin and Jingci, are nestled in the mountains to the west of the lake.
